Notification of Resignation of Seat in the House of Representatives for Electoral District of City of Wellington.

IN compliance with the provisions of the one hundred and thirty-fifth section of “The Electoral Act, 1893,” I, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, hereby notify that

Sir ROBERT STOUT, K.C.M.G.,

has resigned his seat in the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of City of Wellington, and that his letter of resignation was received by me on the 10th day of February, 1898, and that the said seat is vacant by reason of such resignation.

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of all or any of the following sections of land, situate in the Township of Normanby Extension, in the Provincial District of Taranaki: namely, Section 408, containing 1 rood; Section 410, 1 rood; Section 411, 1 rood; Section 413, 1 rood; Section 440, 38 perches; Section 455, 1 rood; Section 501, 1 rood; Section 507, 1 rood; and Section 539, 36 perches: be the several areas a little more or less. The last registered owner is Frederick Schroder, described as of Halcombe, in the Provincial District of Wellington, settler, who cannot be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”
