THE following special order, made by the Kensington Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER OF THE KENSINGTON ROAD BOARD.
THAT the by-law as entered in the minutes of the 31st July, 1897, be adopted and put in force in this district.
By-laws for regulating Heavy Traffic.
No person shall use any metal or gravel road in the Kensington Road District by the traction thereon of any vehicle, engine, or machine which shall itself or together with the thing or things transported thereon weigh more than one and a half tons avoirdu pois to each pair of wheels, or which shall be drawn by more than two horses or other animals, unless such wheels shall have tires not less than four and a half inches wide. Also, that heavy traffic of all or any kind, but especially gravel, shall cease from the fifteenth day of May to the fifteenth day of September in each year, both days inclusive. Any person committing a breach of the above by-laws shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds.
The above by-laws are made in terms of sections 126 to 130 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and section 130, subsection (1), of “The Public Works Act, 1894.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the following special order was made on Saturday, 7th August, 1897, and confirmed on Saturday, 2nd October, 1897: “That, for the purpose of securing payment of the sum of £250, being 10 per cent. additional to the sum of £2,500 borrowed by the Board under ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,’ for the purpose of metalling the North Road, Wellington No. 1 Special Settlement Block, a special rate of 7/8d. in the pound be made and levied on the rateable value for the time being of the following properties: namely, Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 33, 34, 35, 36, 42, 66, Block I., and Sections 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, 46, Block V., all in the Mangaone Survey District; the eastern half of Section 12, fronting the Nireaha Road, as divided by a line at right angles to the dividing-line between Sections 12 and 15; the northern half of Section 13, fronting the Mangatainoka Valley Road, as divided by a line at right angles to the Mangatainoka Valley Road; the eastern half of Section 15, fronting the Nireaha Road, as divided by a line at right angles to the dividing-line between Sections 12 and 15; the northern half of Section 17, as divided by a line at right angles to the back line of section, all in Block VII., Tararua Survey District: the southern half of Section 121, as divided by a line at right angles to the dividing-line between Sections 121 and 122, Block I., Mangaone Survey District; the northern half of Section 47, fronting North Road, as divided by a line at right angles to the dividing-line between Sections 47 and 48; the northern half of Section 48, fronting North Road, as divided by a line at right angles to the dividing-line between Sections 48 and 49; the northern half of Section 49, fronting North Road, as divided by a line at right angles to the dividing-line between Sections 49 and 50; the northern half of Section 50, fronting the North Road, as divided by a line at right angles to the dividing-line between Sections 50 and 51; the northern half of Section 51, fronting North Road, as divided by a line at right angles to the dividing-line between Sections 50 and 51; the western half of Section 52, fronting the Nireaha Road, as divided by a line at right
