PATANGATA COUNTY COUNCIL.
BY-LAW NO. 6.
FOR regulating the power to be used in drawing certain
classes of vehicles on the county roads in the Eparaima
and Porangahau Ridings, in the County of Patangata.
- Any person who shall, at any time between the 1st day
of April and the 1st day of September, inclusive, in any year,
drive, use, or employ, or permit or suffer to be driven, used,
or employed, any vehicle of the description stated in the
Schedule hereto, with tires of any less width or more horses
or bullocks than those respectively stated in the said
Schedule, upon the following roads, that is to say,—
(a.) The Wanstead-Porangahau Road, from the county
boundary in the Pukikora Gorge, known as
Hapuku's Line, to the traffic-bridge over the river
at the Porangahau Township;
(b.) The Porangahau-Wimbledon Road, via the Old
Station and the Lakes,—
shall upon conviction thereof before any two Justices
of the Peace be liable to pay a fine not exceeding £5 for
every such offence. - Any person acting for or under the authority of the
Patangata County Council may at all times measure and
examine the tires of the wheels of any vehicles; and any
person who shall obstruct or prevent any person acting
under such authority, or refuse to permit such examination
as aforesaid, shall, on conviction thereof before any two
Justices of the Peace, be liable to pay a fine not exceeding
£5 for every such offence. - This by-law shall come into force on the 1st day of
January, 1898.
SCHEDULE.
A two-wheeled dray, with or without springs, with tires of
3 in. in width or over, to be drawn by not more than two
horses or four bullocks.
A four-wheeled wagon, with or without springs, with tires
of 3 in. in width or over, to be drawn by not more than four
horses or eight bullocks.
Passed by the Patangata County Council and adopted on
the 8th day of September, 1897.
Signed and sealed by the Chairman of the Patangata
County Council, in the presence of the County Clerk.

SUBSCRIPTIONS.—The subscription is at the rate of 30s.
per annum, PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. A less period than
three months cannot be subscribed for.
Single copies of the Gazette, 6d. each.
Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for
the first insertion and 3d. per line for the second and any
subsequent insertion.
Statements under the Mining Act are uniformly charged
2s.
All advertisements should be written on one side of the
paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible
hand.
The number of insertions required must be written across
the face of the advertisement.
The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday even-
ing in each week, and notices for insertion must be received
by the Government Printer before three o'clock of the day
preceding publication.
Communications should be addressed to the Government
Printer, Wellington, to whom post-office money-orders
should be made payable. Cheques should be crossed "Pub-
lic a/c," and exchange added.
Postage- or duty-stamps cannot be received in payment
from any place at which postal notes or post-office orders are
issued.
Prepayment may be demanded in any case. In order to
prevent delay in publication a sufficient remittance should
accompany every advertisement. Any surplus will be
returned with receipted account.
