Section 25, Block IV., Mt. Cerberus, is situated in the Masterton Reform Block, on the North Range Road, and consists of good flat-topped spurs, severed from the road by a rough gully, watered by permanent streams. The soil is very good, on a sandstone and papa formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing tawa, rimu, rata, matai, &c., the undergrowth being rangiora, mahoe, kotukutuku, dense supplejack, &c. The section is distant about nineteen miles from Makuri, five miles being dray-road, eleven miles bridle-track, and three miles pack-track.
Section 28, Block IV., Mt. Cerberus, is situated in the Masterton Reform Block, on the Waihi Valley Road, and consists of an extensive flat along the road-frontage, and low flat spurs at the back, watered by a permanent stream. The soil is good, on a papa formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing kahikatea, tawa, rimu, &c., the undergrowth being rangiora, supplejack, &c. The section is distant about seventeen miles and a half from Makuri, five miles being dray-road, and twelve miles and a half bridle-track. It is five miles and a half from Pongaroa by a bridle-track.
Section 30, Block IV., Mt. Cerberus, is situated in the Masterton Reform Block, on the Waihi Road, and consists of very low flat spurs, easily accessible, watered by a permanent stream. The soil is very good, on a papa formation, and is covered with heavy but open forest of a mixed character, containing kahikatea, tawa, rimu, rata, &c., the undergrowth being rangiora, supplejack, &c. The section is distant from Makuri about eighteen miles, five miles being a dray-road, and thirteen miles a bridle-track. It is also distant about six miles from Pongaroa by a bridle-track.
Section 13, Block XI., Makuri, is situated in the Masterton Reform Block, on the North Range Road, and consists of broken land, rising to a considerable height at the back, and watered by a permanent stream. The soil is very good, on a limestone formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing tawa, rimu, tawhero, matai, &c., the undergrowth being supplejack, rangiora, mahoe, kotukutuku, &c. The section is difficult of access: the best route at present is via the Cross Road, the distance being seventeen miles from Makuri—five miles a dray-road, eleven miles a bridle-track, and one mile a road which has been surveyed only.

Section 12, Block II., Mt. Cerberus, is situated in the Rising Sun Block, on the Tawai and Waihi Valley Roads, and comprises low flat spurs with a small portion of level land. The soil is good, on a sandstone formation, and covered with forest consisting of kahikatea, matai, tawa, &c., with an undergrowth of rangiora, &c. It is distant about thirty-two miles from Pahiatua or Woodville, and twelve miles from Weber or Pongaroa, eight miles being a dray-road, three miles a bridle-track, and one mile a pack-track.
Section 10, Block II., Mt. Cerberus, is situated in the Rising Sun Block, on the Waihi Valley Road, and comprises low hills with a little flat land, cut up considerably by the Umungoero Stream and road. The soil is good, on a sandstone formation, and is covered with forest consisting of tawa, miro, matai, &c., with an undergrowth of supplejack, rangiora, &c. It is well watered by a permanent stream. The section is distant thirteen miles from Weber by the Alfredton-Weber and Waihi-Akitio Roads, the former being a formed road, and the latter a bridle-track to within two miles of the land.
Section 8, Block II., Mt. Cerberus, is situated in the Rising Sun Block, on the Towai Road, and comprises good easy spurs and gullies. The soil is good, on a sandstone formation. The timber consists of tawa, rimu, and matai, with an undergrowth of supplejack and rangiora. The land is watered by a permanent stream. The section is distant about thirty-one miles and a half from Pahiatua or Woodville, a dray-road being formed to within six miles of the section, a bridle-track for the next two miles and a half, and a pack-track the rest of the way.
Section 34, Block IV., Mt. Cerberus, is situated in the Rising Sun Block, on the Waihi Valley Road, and comprises high ranges and somewhat broken gullies. The soil is good, on a papa formation, and is covered with forest consisting of tawa, rimu, rata, tawhero, &c., with an undergrowth of supplejack, rangiora, &c. It is watered by a permanent stream. The distance from Pongaroa is ten miles, by a bridle-track.
Section 1, Block XIII., Mt. Cerberus, is situated in the Rising Sun Block, on the Towai Road, and comprises good spurs and gullies, with a small portion of level, and a good homestead-site. The soil is good, on a sandstone formation, and is covered with light forest, consisting of tawa, rimu, hinau, matai, &c., with an undergrowth of supplejack, rangiora, &c. It is well watered by a permanent stream. The section is distant from Pahiatua or Woodville thirty-one miles. There is a dray-road via Makuri to within five miles and a half of the section, the rest of the way being by bridle- and pack-tracks.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Salisbury Block.

This section is offered subject to the right of the Crown to take a road through it.
This section is situated in the Salisbury Block, and consists of broken land. The soil is fairly good, on a papa and sandstone formation, and is covered with forest containing rimu, rata, totara, tawa, &c., with the usual undergrowth. It is well watered by running streams. The section fronts the Pohangina River on its right bank, which is steep. The distance from Ashurst is about twenty-two miles, for the greater part of which there is a formed dray-road, the river-bed being used for dray traffic where the road is unformed.
Delaware Block.

This section is situated in the Delaware Block, and consists of broken land, the soil being fairly good, on a papa and sandstone formation. It is covered with forest containing rimu, rata, tawa, &c., with birch on the ridges, and the usual undergrowth. It is well watered. The distance from Ashurst is about twenty-four miles. A dray-road has been formed to within three miles and a half of the section, and a bridle-track to within two miles; the remaining distance being a road which is surveyed only.
Pohangina Block.

Section 33, Block IV., Umutoi, is situated in the Pohangina Block, on the Table Flat Road, and consists of undulating land, with about 50 acres of flat. The soil is good, on a papa formation, and is covered with forest, which is composed of rimu, matai, miro, rata, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The section is well watered. Its distance from the Township of Apiti is about eight miles, from which place there is a formed dray-road to within a mile of the section, and a bridle-track the rest of the distance.
