RESULT OF POLL ON PROPOSAL TO ADOPT “THE RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUE ACT, 1896.”
I HEREBY give public notice that the poll of the Taratahi-Carterton Road District, taken on the 26th day of August, 1897, on the proposal, “That ‘The Rating on Unimproved Value Act, 1896,’ be adopted in the Taratahi-Carterton Road District, and that henceforth property be rated upon the basis of the unimproved value thereof,” resulted as follows:—
Total number of ratepayers .. .. .. 464
Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 192
Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal 261
Number of votes recorded against the proposal .. 53
I accordingly declare the above proposal duly carried.

WE give notice that we have this day dissolved our Partnership at Masterton as livery-stable keepers, under the style of “Buick and Hawke.” Mr. Buick will in future carry on the business solely, receive all accounts due to the late firm, and pay the liabilities thereof.
All accounts against the firm must be sent in at once. All moneys due to the firm must be forthwith paid to Mr. Buick or his solicitor (undersigned) on or before 1st October next, or proceedings will issue for recovery.
