Kauri Timber, Auckland, for Sale by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned singed kauri, within the Waerekahakaha State Forest, in Block IX., Mangakahia Survey District, Hobson County, will be offered for sale by public auction, at this office, on Friday, the 8th day of October, 1897, at 11 o’clock a.m. :—
70 singed trees, containing about 207,072 sup. feet. Upset price, £103 10s. 8d.
This timber is situated about a mile from Mangakahia Post-office, and can be delivered into the Mangakahia River by a tramway about one mile and a half long.
Conditions of Sale.—One-half the purchase-money to be paid in cash or by marked cheque on the fall of the hammer; the balance within six months thereafter. Timber to be removed within one year from date of sale.

The land is level; soil fair, with shingle bottom; it is covered with silver-tussock. The distance from Riversdale is about three miles.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

HOROWHENUA COUNTY.
Levin Village Settlement.

Weighted with £134 for improvements.
This section is situated on the main street of Levin Township, close to the Post-office, school, and the main business part of the town. It consists of fair soil on a shingle formation; and is open land.

PAHIATUA COUNTY.
Makuri Village Settlement.

Weighted with £73 5s. for improvements.
This section is situated at Makuri, about 20 chains from the main road, this distance not yet having been formed into a road. The soil is good, on a limestone formation, although there is no flat land on the section.

Pahiatua Village Settlement.

Weighted with £69 19s. for improvements. There is a liability of £1 17s. 8d. on this section due to the Pahiatua County Council for rates.
This section is situated about a mile from Mangatainoka Township, where there is a post-office, school, butter-factory, &c., and is approached by a good metalled road. The land consists of alluvial soil, is level, and in grass, although fern and thistle are now getting into it.

Upper Makuri Village Settlement.

This section is situated in the Upper Makuri Village, distant from Makuri Township about three miles and a half, from which place there is a good metalled road to within 30 chains of the section. The soil is alluvial, on a shingle and limestone formation. The land is level, and covered with bush. There are a few large trees, consisting of white-pine, rimu, &c., the balance of the timber being light, with very little undergrowth. The land is watered by the Makuri Stream.
