Crown Lands in Otago open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

THE under-mentioned Crown lands will be open for application under lease in perpetuity, at this office, on Wednesday, the 15th day of September, 1897, under the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892," and "The Land for Settlements Act, 1894," and its amendments.

Situated four miles and a half from Duntroon, and adjacent to Borton's Railway-siding. Valuation for improvements, payable with application or immediately the result of the ballot is declared, £82 16s.
Note.—The successful applicant for this allotment will acquire the adjoining Crown lands, Section 32, Block III., Awamoko District, containing 63 acres 3 roods 22 perches, on lease in perpetuity, at an annual rental of £6 7s. 10d.

Small Grazing-run No. 86.—All hill; well watered; 200 acres light bush suitable only for firewood. There is a paddock of 110 acres mostly ploughed and in English grass; remainder of section fern and tussock. Three-roomed concrete-and-iron hut; 530 chains of wire-and-standard fence on boundary. Accessible by Waiau-Kaikoura Road, and the Cribb and Kahautara river-beds. Altitude, 450 ft. to 2,300 ft. Distant fifteen miles from Kaikoura.
Small Grazing-run No. 87.—All hills, covered with tussock and fern, part ploughable; well watered and sheltered, with northern aspect. Good ploughable homestead-site of 80 acres. Accessible by Waiau-Kaikoura Road, and Cribb and Kahautara river-beds. Altitude, 400 ft. to 3,000 ft. Distant fourteen miles from Kaikoura.
Small Grazing-run No. 88.—All hills, part ploughable; well watered; northern aspect; soil varies from good to poor and stony; 50-acre paddock ploughed and in English grass (good homestead-site), balance tussock and fern; 100 chains wire-and-standard fencing on south boundary, and 224 chains within the section. Altitude, 400 ft. to 3,000 ft. Distant thirteen miles from Kaikoura.

Small Grazing-run No. 89.—Nearly all hills, part ploughable; well watered; sunny aspect; 240 acres light firewood bush, remainder mostly tussock with patches of fern and grass; good homestead-site, partly level, ploughed and in grass; good wire-fence on south boundary, and 190 chains of internal fencing. Altitude, 350 ft. to 2,500 ft. Distant thirteen miles from Kaikoura.
Small Grazing-run No. 92.—Very rough broken country, all hills; mostly poor stony soil; two-thirds inferior bush, remainder tussock and fern; well watered. Altitude, sea-level to 3,000 ft. 200 chains wire-and-standard fence on boundary, and a rough gully forms natural fence for another mile. Fronts Waiau-Kaikoura Road now being made. A stock-track reserve along Run 87 gives access to the back of the run. Distant twelve miles from Kaikoura, near Omihi landing-place.
Small Grazing-run No. 93.—Mostly rough broken country; well watered; altitude, 50 ft. to 2,700 ft.; half light bush and scrub, remainder tussock and fern. There are some low ridges and spurs near the south-east corner of the run, and a flat terrace forming good homestead-site fronting main road (now being made). Most of the bush land is fair soil, and would grass well if cleared. 370 chains wire-and-standard fence on boundary. There are sheep-yards and paddocks at northern end, and a stock-track from them to main road. Distant sixteen miles from Kaikoura, and three miles from Omihi landing-place.

Small Grazing-run No. 94.—The part of this run fronting on main road consists of low spurs and slopes, very good soil, part bush and part tussock; the remainder poor stony hills, about half of which are bush and half tussock; well watered. Altitude, 40 ft. to 2,800 ft. Distant fifteen miles from Kaikoura and two miles from the Omihi landing-place.
Small Grazing-run No. 95.—This run is on the sea-coast. Two-thirds light bush, which would carry grass well if cleared, remainder from good to very rough and stony tussock hills; well watered. Altitude, sea-level to 2,770 ft. Distant fourteen miles from Kaikoura by main road. The Omihi landing-place is on this run.

Small Grazing-run No. 96.—At present 1,435 acres of this run to the west of the Redan is under license to Mr. Bullen for three years from 1st April, 1897, and possession of only 2,495 acres will be given until 1st April, 1900, the half-yearly rental being £22 17s. 9d. until that time. This run fronts the main road. It varies from low ridges with good soil to very rough and stony hilltops. Nearly half bush,
