Rural Land, Wellington, open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

THE under-mentioned Crown land will be open for selection on lease in perpetuity on and after Wednesday, the 18th August, 1897. If more than one application be received for the same section on the same day, then the order of selection shall be decided by ballot on the following day at 10 a.m.

The section is weighted with £77 10s. for improvements, &c.

A half-year's rent and £1 1s. lease-fee, together with the amount with which the section is weighted for improvements, &c., must be paid before the application can be approved.

The above section comprises rather broken land, the soil being fair, on a sandstone formation, covered with forest, except 35 acres which has been felled and sown with grass. The timber consists of rimu, rata, tawhero, &c., with an undergrowth of mahoë, konini, supplejack, &c. The land is well watered by creeks. The access is from Makuri Township, from which it is distant about 5 miles, 3½ miles by a main dray-road, and 1½ miles by a good pack-track.

Reserve in Auckland for Lease.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned reserve will be submitted for leasing for a term of fourteen years, under "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," at this office, on Friday, the 3rd day of September, 1897, at 11 a.m. :—

Raglan County, Parish of Karamu: Section 22, 15 acres 1 rood; upset annual rent, £3.

The landing reserve about one mile from Whatawhata.

Term of Lease.—Fourteen years, without any right of renewal.

No compensation for improvements during either the currency or on termination of the lease; but the lessee may remove any buildings or fences erected by him.
