The above section is situated in the Hunterville No. II. Farm-homestead Block, and consists of broken land, with a few small flats on the Mangamahoe Stream. The soil is fair, on a papa formation. It is well watered, and is covered with forest of a mixed character containing rimu, rata, tawa, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The section is distant about twenty-one miles from Hunterville, fifteen miles and a half being dray-road, and the remaining distance bridle-track and rough pack-track. Five acres have been felled and burned.

The above section is situated in the Pahiatua No. I. Farm-homestead Block, on the Waihi Road, and consists of low flat spurs in front, rising in spurs to a considerable height towards the back line. The soil is poor, on a papa formation. It is well watered by a permanent stream. The front spurs are covered with manuka, and the back ones with mixed forest of tawa, rimu, matai, &c. The undergrowth is manuka, open rangiora, and supplejack. The section is distant about twenty-one miles from Makuri, five miles being dray-road, thirteen miles bridle-track, and three miles pack-track. Two acres have been felled, grassed, and logged up.

The above section is situated in the Waimarino Farm-homestead Settlement, and consists of flat and undulating land, well watered. The soil is good, on a papa formation. It is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing rimu, matai, tawa, kahikatea, maire, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The section is distant about nine miles from Raetihi Township, four miles being a formed dray-road, four miles a formed bridle-track, and one mile a pack-track. Eighteen acres have been felled and grassed, and there is a whare on the section.

This section is situated in the Momahaki Settlement, on a formed road, and consists of nearly all flat land, suitable for a dairy-farm; it is watered by permanent springs. The soil is good, on a papa and sandstone formation. There is one small clump of bush, which is mostly scrub, on the land. The section is distant four miles and a quarter from Waverley Township, about two miles from Momahaki Railway-station, and two miles and a quarter from the Momahaki Creamery, by a formed dray-road. The whole section is ring-fenced and subdivided. About 28 acres have been ploughed. There are 93 chains of fencing, a house 26 ft. by 24 ft., a well, garden, and orchard, two outhouses, &c.
Stirling Block.

This section is situated in the Stirling Special Settlement Block, and can be approached from the Newman Railway-station, from which it is distant about nine miles, seven miles of which is a metalled road, the remaining two miles being a formed road only. The land is of fair quality, on a papa formation, and is well watered, about 20 acres being flat. With the exception of about 16 acres, which have been felled but not grassed, the section is all under mixed forest, consisting chiefly of rata, rimu, kahikatea, &c., with a mixed undergrowth.
Kakariki Block.

This section is in the Kakariki Block, and is approached from the Hukanui Railway-station, about four miles distant, by a formed and partly-formed road. The soil is of good quality, on a papa and sandstone formation, and is covered with mixed forest, consisting of rimu, rata, kahikatea, with a mixed undergrowth. There are 20 acres of flat land on the section.

Section 16, Block XIII., is situated about twelve miles from Pahiatua, six miles from Nikau Post-office, six miles from the proposed Tutaekara Railway-station by a cleared road and bridle-track (the latter being now in course of formation), and about five miles from Hukanui Railway-station, three miles of which is dray-road and part bridle-track, and two miles a proposed road, which is a rough walking-track and not open for horse traffic. The soil is good, on a papa formation, and is covered with forest, consisting of rimu, tawa, &c., and the usual undergrowth. The section contains about 180 acres of flat land. It is watered by a stream.
Section 3, Block II., is distant about six miles from Hukanui Railway-station, two miles of which is a dray-road and four miles bridle-track. The soil is poor and stony, and there is no level land on it. It is covered with forest, consisting of rimu, birch, &c., and is watered by a stream.

Hall Block.

The access to this section is by the proposed road from Ballance to the Gorge, which is partly formed and in course of formation. It may be approached at present by a good road from Woodville, distant about three miles from the river, which is fordable nearly opposite the section, and there is also a partly-formed track from the Gorge Bridge to the section (about three miles), but this is not open for horse traffic. It is also accessible from Ballance to within two miles on horseback by a proposed road now partly formed, or by fording the river, going round towards Woodville. This is considered to be a good section in a good position. The section consists for the most part of hilly land, 10 acres in front being level. It is watered by a creek. The soil is good, on papa formation, and is covered with forest, consisting of rimu, rata, mahoe, tawa, &c.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Mekalickstone Block.

The above section is situated in the Mekalickstone Farm-homestead Block, on the Waikereru Road, and consists of undulating and broken land. The soil is poor, on a broken formation, covered chiefly with large manuka, and an undergrowth of fern, whitewood, &c. The section is distant about nineteen miles from Makuri, six miles being dray-road, and thirteen miles horse-road and track. Eight acres have been felled, burned, and grassed, and there is easy access to the section from the road-frontage, which has been felled.
