Conferring Jurisdiction on Native Land Court.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth
day of June, 1897.
Present:
His Excellency the Administrator of the Government
in Council.
WHEREAS by section fourteen of "The Native Land
Court Act, 1894," it is enacted that the Native Land
Court shall, as regards all lands within the meaning of sub-
section ten of section fourteen aforesaid, have jurisdiction
as in the said subsection mentioned: Provided that the
Court shall not proceed to exercise such jurisdiction unless
the Governor in Council shall by order authorise the same
to be done:
And whereas the land specified in the Schedule hereto is
land in respect whereof the Court has jurisdiction as afore-
said, and it is expedient that the Court should be authorised
to exercise the same:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator of the
Government of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, doth hereby authorise the said Court to exercise
in respect of the said land the jurisdiction conferred as
aforesaid — that is to say, to determine whether or not
the said land or any part thereof was, on the investigation
of title thereto, intended by the Native Land Court, or
by the nominal owner or owners of such land, to be held
by such nominal owner or owners in trust for Natives
not named in the title, and to determine who are the
Natives (if any) entitled beneficially to such land, and to
order the inclusion of such Natives in the title, either
together with or in lieu of the nominal owners or any of them,
and for the purpose aforesaid to order the cancellation or
amendment of any existing instrument of title, and the issue
of such new Crown grants or other instruments of title as
may be necessary, and generally to exercise in respect of the
said land all the jurisdiction and powers conferred on the
Native Land Court by subsection ten of section fourteen of
" The Native Land Court Act, 1894."

SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
situate in the Mangakahia Puriri, Maungaru, and Tanga-
hua Survey Districts, and known as the Whatitiri No. 15
Block, containing 3,141 acres, more or less.

Conferring Jurisdiction on Native Land Court.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth
day of June, 1897.
Present:
His Excellency the Administrator of the Government
in Council.
WHEREAS by an order of the Native Land Court
made at Otorohanga on the ninth day of December,
one thousand eight hundred and ninety, it was ordered that
the sum of sixty pounds should be paid to the Native owners
of the Pokuru Block, as compensation in respect of that
portion of the said block, containing twenty-six acres three
roods and twenty-four perches, taken for the Puniu Section
of the North Island Main Trunk Railway, under the pro-
visions of "The Public Works Act, 1882":
And whereas the said block has since been partitioned,
and it is expedient that the said Court should be empowered
to inquire and determine to whom the said sum of sixty
pounds is to be paid, and to make such order as it may deem
fit in relation thereto:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator of the
Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the power in that behalf vested in him by section fifteen of
" The Native Land Court Act, 1894," and acting by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, doth hereby confer upon the said Court juris-
diction, with regard to the said sum of sixty pounds, to
inquire and determine as aforesaid, and to make such order
in respect thereof as it shall deem necessary or expedient.

Notifying Lands in Auckland for Sale by Public Auction.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon
me by the one hundred and thirteenth section of "The
Land Act, 1892," I, James Prendergast, the Administrator
of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint Friday, the thirteenth day of August, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-seven, as the time at which the
lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by
public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the
said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said
Schedule hereto following the description of such lands re-
spectively.

SCHEDULE.
Auckland Land District.
Town of Russell.—S.pt. Lot 4, Section 9, containing 2 perches;
upset price, £1. Offered subject to £10 for shed and
fencing.
Whangarei County.—Section 20, Block VIII., Hukerenui
Survey District, and Section 31, Block IV., Opuawhanga
Survey District, together 740 acres; total upset price, £600;
situated about three miles and a half from Whakapara
Railway-station by a fair road, and contains about
1,100,000 sup. ft. kauri timber in scattered clumps.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Adminis-
trator of the Government, this eighteenth day of
May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-
seven.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve in
the Auckland Land District.

Administrator of the Government.
WHEREAS by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," it is
amongst other things enacted that the Governor
may make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any
public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her Majesty or
the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II. of
the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted
or not, if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be ex-
pedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part
thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it
was set apart to any other purpose; or if it shall, in the
opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of
the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal
value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the
said Class II., the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare
his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication,
as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner
and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator
of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby,
in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in me by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," aforesaid,
declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the
reserve described in the Schedule hereto from a site for a
public hall to a site for offices and buildings of the General
Government.

SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 1 acre
and 12 perches, more or less, being Lot No. 38 in the Parish
of Okura, Block XI., Waiwera Survey District, Auckland
Land District. Bounded towards the north-east by a road,
468 links; towards the south by a road, 598 links; and
towards the north-west by a road, 477 links, to the point of
commencement.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Adminis-
trator of the Government, this twenty-eighth day
of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-
seven.
