NOTE.—Generally fine up to the 13th, with occasional showers of rain, and wind N.W. and frequently strong; wind changed to S.E. on night of the 14th, with rain; on the 15th, heavy rain during afternoon, and strong S.E. wind and heavy rain at night; on the 16th, strong S.E. gale with heavy rain all day and night, severe gale during night; 3·06 in. and 3·04 in. rain recorded on the 16th and 17th, causing floods; storm very severe, and continued windy up to the 18th; remainder of month fine. Maximum temperature in shade 67°·5, minimum 40°; mean temperature of dew-point, 48°; mean humidity, 74; fog on the 25th; brilliant meteor on the 3rd.
