At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventeenth day of May, 1897.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by "The Education Act, 1877," His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, doth hereby make the regulation hereto annexed regarding certain payments of capitation allowance to Education Boards; and, with the like advice and consent, doth hereby prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
REGULATION.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in an Order in Council made on the 5th day of January, 1888, under the provisions of "The Education Act, 1877," relating (inter alia) to attendance registers and returns, the payment of capitation allowance to Education Boards for the quarter ending on the 30th day of June, 1897, shall be according to the working-average attendance of the quarter ending on the 31st day of March, 1897, as working average was defined by Order in Council dated the 5th day of July, 1887, and made under the provisions of the before-mentioned Act.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by "The Education Act, 1877," His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, doth make the regulation hereto annexed prescribing the fees to be paid by pupils for receiving instruction in higher education as therein set forth; and, with the like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
REGULATION.
At any District High School in the Education District of Taranaki the fees for higher education within the meaning of section 56 of "The Education Act, 1877," shall be four pounds a year for two subjects, and five pounds a year for more than two subjects.

Extension of Time for Preparation of County Rolls, County of Grey.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear that, owing to unavoidable circumstances, the preparation of the rolls for the County of Grey, and the taking of certain steps consequent on such preparation, cannot be made and taken within the times limited by "The Counties Act, 1886," and it is expedient to extend the said times respectively:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby order and declare that the several dates mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be the respective dates for taking the several steps set out in the said Schedule.
SCHEDULE.

For preparing the rolls for ridings within the County of Grey: Until the 1st May, 1897.

Time for which such rolls shall be open for inspection: From the 3rd May, 1897, to the 18th May, 1897.

Time for appeals against the said rolls: Until the 3rd June, 1897.

Revision Courts may sit for hearing applications with reference to the said rolls, and adjourn: Until the 20th June, 1897.

Time when the said rolls, having been duly corrected and signed, shall come into force: On the 1st July, 1897.

Terms and Conditions of Village-homestead Allotments in Wellington.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by "The Land Act, 1892," His Excellency the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, dated the twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, fixing the terms and conditions for the disposal of village-homestead allotments in the Wellington Land District enumerated in the First Schedule hereto, and also doth by this present Order in Council fix the terms and conditions as set forth in the Second Schedule hereto as those upon which the said lands enumerated in the First Schedule shall be leased as village-homestead allotments.
