ferred by the Act aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve thereof, to

THE RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL,

which shall be known as the Whaingaroa Domain Board (hereinafter referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the fourth Wednesday of each quarter, at the same time and place at which the meetings of the Raglan County Council are held, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Wednesday, the twenty-sixth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the fourth Wednesday in January in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 347 acres and 5 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 86 and 86A, Parish of Waipa. Bounded towards the north by a right line, 6000 links; towards the east by a right line, 5980·5 links; towards the south by a right line, 6000 links; and towards the west by Section No. 127: exclusive of roads.

Rural Land in the Canterbury Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land for Settlements Act, 1894,” and the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said one hundred and thirty-sixth section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the second day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven; and that the said land may be selected on lease in perpetuity, subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892”; and I do hereby declare that the rental at which the said land shall be leased shall be that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

This section is situated between the Hurunui and Waitohi Rivers, to the west of the Northern Railway, and about three miles and three-quarters in a north-westerly direction from the Medbury Station; and comprises open, plain, light, stony land, with patches of manuka scrub as shown on the plan. The elevation is about 900ft. above the sea-level; and the land, except where covered by stunted manuka as shown, is fairly well grassed with tussock.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this twenty-ninth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, James Prendergast, Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the third day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

This section is situated about twelve miles from Riversdale, the land being open and undulating, and the soil fairly good. It is burdened with valuation for improvements to the amount of £291 7s., consisting of house, £60; 175 acres in grass, £131 5s.; garden and orchard, £37 12s.; fencing, £20; water-wheel and race, £20; other improvements, £22 10s.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this twenty-fifth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.
