THE following is the result of a poll taken on 5th March, 1897, to decide whether or not "The Rating on Unimproved Value Act, 1896," should be adopted in the Borough of Palmerston North:—

Number of voters voting, 344; number of votes for the proposal, 402; number against the proposal, 12; informal votes, 3.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

In the matter of "The Companies Act, 1882," and the amendments thereto; and in the matter of the Karamea Co-operative Dairy Company (Limited), a company duly incorporated under the above-mentioned Act, and carrying on business at Karamea, near Westport, in New Zealand.

NOTICE is hereby given that a petition for the winding-up of the above-named company by the Supreme Court was, on the 8th day of March, 1897, presented to Mr. Justice Denniston, a Judge of the Supreme Court, by Malcolm Morris Jenkins and Maurice McNabb, of Karamea, Farmers, creditors of the said company; and the said petition is directed to be heard before a Judge of the said Court at Hokitika, on the 26th day of March, 1897; and any creditor or contributory of the said company desirous to oppose the making of an order for the winding-up of the said company under the above Act should appear at the time of hearing, by himself or his counsel, for that purpose; and a copy of the petition will be furnished to any creditor or contributory of the said company requiring the same by the undersigned on payment of the regulated charge for the same.
