NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-RACE.
Hauraki District, 17th February, 1897.
To the Warden at Thames.
I HEREBY give notice that I intend to construct a water-race to divert and use water for mining purposes, commencing at a point marked X on a creek not named, contiguous to the northern boundary of Allotment S.W. portion of 142, Parish of Aotea, Great Barrier, and terminating at another point marked X.
The length of such race is 40 chains or thereabouts, and its intended course is south-east. The race is partly on my private land, and is required for my claim, Ryan’s Freehold. The mean depth of such race is 3ft., and the mean breadth is 4ft.; and it is proposed to divert twenty Government heads of water.
Cost of construction: £500.
Time required for construction: Twelve months.
Number and date of miner’s right: No. 5915; 12th September, 1896.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-RACE.
Otago District, 13th October, 1896.
To the Warden at Dunedin.
WE hereby give notice that we intend to construct a water-race to divert and use water for mining purposes, commencing at a point on Fortification Creek about 80 chains west of Trig. E, in Block VII., Mount Hyde District, also distant in a south-eastern direction at a bearing of 130 degrees from Trig. O, on northern boundary of said Block VII., Mount Hyde District, and terminating at Section 3, Block V., Mount Hyde District.
The length of such race is six miles or thereabouts, and its intended course is generally in a south-eastern and eastern direction.
The mean depth of such race is 2ft., and the mean breadth is 4ft., and it is proposed to divert ten Government heads of water from Fortification Creek.
Cost of construction: £2,000.
Time required for construction: One year.

THE WALTON PARK COAL AND POTTERY COMPANY (LIMITED).
AT an extraordinary general meeting of the above company, duly convened, and held in the Chamber of Commerce, Dunedin, on the 10th day of February, 1897, the following resolution was duly passed: “That it has been proved to the satisfaction of the company that it cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same.”
And at the same meeting EDMUND EDWARD COLSTON QUICK, of Dunedin, Sharebroker, and ANDREW MELVILLE, of Saint Clair, Gentleman, were appointed Liquidators for the purpose of such winding-up.
