[NOTE.—The figures here given are the numbers at each year of age, compiled from the entries on the census schedules as made by the householders themselves. A glance at the table will show that many people, either through ignorance, carelessness, or disregard of truth and accuracy, have set down their ages as at the nearest decennial or quinquennial period (30, 35, 40, &c.). To ascertain the true number living at each year of age, the total numbers in each quinquennial or decennial group should be distributed proportionately over the single years.]
