PATANGATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

AMENDMENT TO BY-LAW No. 3.

THE following by-law was duly confirmed, signed, and
sealed at a meeting of the Patangata County Council
held on Wednesday, 9th December, 1896, at Waipukurau :-
'The provisions of By-law No. 3, regulating the width of
wheel-tires and the power to be used in drawing certain
classes of vehicles upon the Weber-Wimbledon Road, are
hereby extended so as to apply to all that portion of the
Wimbledon-Herbertville Road between the boundary of the
Weber Road District and the sea-beach at the Township of
Herbertville.
'This amendment to By-law No. 3 shall come into force
on the 1st day of January, 1897.'

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.

RATING ACT AMENDMENT ACT.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following Native lands
are liable to be rated at a general rate of gd. in the
pound on the capital value.
This Council hereby calls upon the Native owners in each
block to nominate one of their number to represent all the
owners and occupiers in such block for the purposes of
rating. The nomination must be in writing and signed by
a majority of the owners, and the nomination-papers must
be sent to the office of the County Council, Gisborne, on or
before the 1st day of March, 1897.
If the owners in any block named herein fail to nominate
a representative, the Council will immediately thereafter
select one of the owners for the purpose of rating, and the
law provides that he shall, for all purposes of rating, be
treated as the sole occupier of the land.
