Notice of Request to amend Specification.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 25th November, 1896.

A REQUEST for leave to amend the specification (including drawings) relating to the under-mentioned application for Letters Patent has been received, and is open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within one month from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the amendments. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 8618.—2nd July, 1896.—DANIEL JOHN CROSBY, of Black Oak Farm, Kadina, South Australia, Farmer. An invention for new or improved belting for transmitting power.

The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows, viz.:

(1.) To insert the word “coil” between the words “metal” and “spring,” line 18, page 2.

(2.) To strike out the words “or suitable and suitably-tempered crimped wire or crimped metal-ribbon,” and “all as herein described,” lines 20–22, page 2.

(3.) To strike out the paragraph comprising the last three lines of page 2 and the first five lines of page 3.

(4.) To alter the figures “5,” “6,” “7,” and “8,” in lines 6, 8, 9, and 11, page 3, to “3,” “4,” “5,” and “6” respectively.

(5.) To insert the word “belt” immediately after the word “spring,” line 13, page 3.

(6.) To strike out the words “and for a crimped spring flat, with flanges,” lines 14 and 15, page 3.

(7.) To strike out the words “or laps,” line 19, page 3.

(8.) To strike out the words “or the pitch of the laps,” last line, page 3.

(9.) To alter the figure “8” to the figure “6,” line 11, page 4.

(10.) To strike out the paragraph contained in the lines 26–30, page 4.

(11.) To insert the words “in separate grooves” between the words “side” and “and,” line 32, page 4.

(12.) To insert the word “coil” between the words “endless” and “spring,” line 2, claim 1.

(13.) To strike out claim 2.

(14.) To alter the numbers of claims “3,” “4,” and “5,” to “2,” “3,” and “4,” respectively.

(15.) To insert the word “coil” immediately before the word “spring,” line 17, page 5.
