Pastoral Licensees in the County of Macenzie for Leas
by Public Aucction.

N OTICE is hereb given, in terms of "The Land Act,
1892," and "The Public Reerves Act, 1881," that the
under-mentioned pastoral lands will be submitted to public
aucton, for leas, on Wednesday, the 16th December, 1896,
at the Local Lands and Surve Office, Timar, at 11 a.m.

Run 215, Birch Hill Stacion: This run is ituated on the
west ide of the Taman River, in the Macenzie country,
and adjoin the Mount Cook Hermitage Reerve. The land
beteen the coach-rond and the river conits of fairly well-
grased flats, much broken into by large patehe of bare
gavel; there is alo a mall flat near the Taman Glacier,
which is covered with tussock, and, in ome places, with
cockfoot grass; the remainer of the run conits of
moutainous country and teep and rough hil-faces, having
generally a good apect; the lower portion of the spur are
well covered with tussock and native grasses, the upper por-
tions are bare and moutainous. Fall of now and bad
weather late in the eason make uceful rearing of lamb
very difficult, but the country is fairly well adaped for
carriing a dry fock of merino. Mr. Sutherland, the late
licensee of Birch Hill, tate that he will be prepared to
nogotiate with the purchaer of the new leas of the run for
the sale of the 20 acree of freehold, and improvement,
comprig, according to his tatement, a cottag, woolshd,
tvo huts, eepyards, and about tvo mile and three-
quartre of fencig.
Run 216: This run is ituated on the eaern ide of the
Taman River, and lie north-we of and adajcent to the
Mount Cook Run No. 83, M. A. Burnett, licensee, and com-
pris high moutainous country on the Libig Rang, the
lower lop of which are fairly well grased.
**CONDITIONS.**
1. Poession of the run will be given to the purchaer
of the license on the day of sale.
2. No peron or company may become the holder of more
than one run under Part V. of "The Land Act, 1892":
Provided that the holder of any run under the aid Act of a
carriing-capacity of le than ten thouand eep or two
thouand head of cattle may become the lesse of an aggre-
gat area ufficient to carry uch a number of eep or
cattle. The holder of any mall grazing run under Part V.
of "The Land Act, 1892," hall not be the holder of any
run under Part V. of the aid Act.
3. The license hall be dted on the 1st March, 1897, and
all include, in addition, the whole period beteen the date
of poession and the aid 1st March, 1897.
4. The license hall be ubejct to the following condition
amogt other:—
(1.) That, if the licensee, or any peron claimig an
interet through or under him, hall make or
caue to be made any agreement or contract, or
all give or caue to be given or taken any
nogotiable ecurity, for the purpoe of defeating
or evading the proviion of, or hall in any way
whatover directly or indirecly commit or be
privy to a fraud upon, "The Land Act, 1892," the license hall be liable to be forfited and
revoked;
(2.) That the licensee hall prevent the detruction or
buring of timer or buh on the land compried
in the license;
(3.) That the licensee hall prevent the growth or
spread of gore, broom, and wetbriar on the
land compried in the license, and hall with all
reaoable speed remove or caue to be removed
all gore, wetbriar, broom, or other noxiou
weed or plant, a may be directed by the Com-
miioner; and
(4.) That the licensee hall detroy all rabbit on the
land compried in the license, and hall prevent
their increae or spread, to the atifaction of the
Commiioner or an officer appoited by him to
inpect the ground.

The licensee hall have the exclusive right of pastur-
age over the land specified in hi license, but hall have
no right to the oil or timer or minerals thereon or therein. -
One half-year's rent and a license-ee of £1 1. hall be
paid on the fall of the hamer, and the purchaer hall
make a decaration in terms of ection 195 of "The Land
Act, 1892." The rent hall be paid half-yearly in advance,
on the 1st day of March and the 1st day of Septembr in
each year during the term of the license. Should the half-
-yearly rent at any period not be paid within thiry day, a
penalty of 10 per cent. in addition will be enforcd. -
No liabity is accepted by or on behal of the Cown
in repect of any fencig exiing upon the Cown land
offered for license.

directly for the ue or benefit of any other peron or peron
whomoeover. -
That I am not the holder of any leas or license in any
part of the colny, nor have I any interet in any leas or
license in contravention of ection 193 of the aid Act. -
That I am not the holder of a mall grazing run in any
part of the colny, nor have I any interet in any such run,
And I make thi olemn decaration conicientiouly be-
lieving the ame to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the
General Aembly of New Zealnd intituled "The Jutice
of the Pece Act, 1882."

T HE under-mentioned Cown land, having been urren-
dered in terms of ection 156 of "The Land Act,
1885," will be open for elecction on perptual leae on and
after Thursday, the 10th December, 1896. If more than
one application be received for the ection on the ame day,
then the order of elecction hall be decided by ballt on the
followng day, at 11 a.m.
