Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 11th November, 1896.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the under-men-
tioned applications for Letters Patent have been
accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office.
Any person may, at any time within two months from the
date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition
to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set
forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate.
A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 8031.—5th November, 1895.—Joseph Charles Hus-
band, of Ashhurst, Manawatu, New Zealand, Settler. An
invention for stump-extracting or lifting heavy weights.

No. 8042.—4th November, 1895.—James Arthur Hurley,
of Wendonside Riversdale, New Zealand, Farmer. An in-
vention for thinning turnips sown in drills, or other crops
sown in drills. (Specification, 6s.; drawings, 8s.)*

No. 8108.—2nd December, 1895.—Thomas Branton, of
Blenheim, New Zealand, Flaxmiller. An invention for im-
provements in the treatment of New Zealand flax. (Specifi-
cation, 10s.; drawings, £1 6s.)*

nee of Alfred Thomas Perkins, of 2155, Central Avenue,
Alameda, California, United States of America). An inven-
tion for an improved process of preserving fresh fruits,
vegetable products, and other articles and substances of food
from decay without the use of refrigerants. (Specification,

of Ashburton, Canterbury, New Zealand, Saddler. An in-
vention for an improved pneumatic horse-collar. (Specifica-

No. 8954.—23rd October, 1896.—Ilius Augustus Timmis,
of 2, Great George Street, Westminster, Middlesex, England,
Civil Engineer. An invention for an improved food. (Speci-
fication, 3s.)

No. 8955.—23rd October, 1896.—Edgar Arthur Ash-
croft, of 34, Queen Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Electrical
Engineer. An invention for an improved process for the
treatment of metalliferous ores and products. (Specifica-

Lambton Quay, Wellington, New Zealand, Miner. An in-
vention for an improved dredge. (Specification, 12s.; draw-

Laurie, of 29, Customs Street East, Auckland, New Zea-
land, Clerk. An invention entitled "Laurie's Pedestrian

No. 8963.—21st October, 1896.—William Allen Jewell,
Cabinetmaker, and Walter Coster Gee, Window-blind
Manufacturer, both of 71, Cathedral Square, Christchurch,
New Zealand. An invention for improved bat-blade pro-

Potts, of Wellington, New Zealand, Composer. An in-
vention for an improved laundry-strainer. (Specification, 3s.;

No. 8969.—22nd October, 1896.—Francis William Payne,
of 31, Moray Place, Dunedin, New Zealand, Consulting
Mechanical Engineer. An invention for a safety catch and
method of preventing accidents to cable-cars. (Specifica-

and Andrew McNAE, Commercial Traveller, both of Lincoln,
New Zealand. An invention for drenching cattle and horses,

son, of McKillop Street, Geelong, Victoria, Manufacturing
Chemist. An invention for improvements in polishing com-
pounds for metals. (Specification, 4s.)

No. 8973.—26th October, 1896.—Carl Wilhelm Hein-
rich Gopner, of Canalstrasse, 46, 48, Uhlenhorst, Ham-
burg, Germany, Chemical Manufacturer; and Heinrich
Ludwig Diehl, of K1. Grasbrook Vogelreth, 8, Hamburg
Germany, Chemist. An invention for improvements in the
recovery of gold and silver from their solutions. (Specifi-

of 1001, Broadway, Oakland, Alameda, California, Gentle-
man. An invention for improvements in engines. (Specifi-

improvement in wire-strainers, to be called "Walker's
