REGULATIORS—continued.

In accordence with the 189th section of "The Public Worke Act, 1894," the
liability of the Minister for loss or damage is limited in respect to certain classes
of goods termed "Speciel Gooda," unless such goods are declared by the consignor
to be "Speciel Gooda," and the value is stated in the consignmentnote.

Gooda declared to be "Speciel Gooda" are specified in Part V. Any package or
anima! which exceeds in value the sum of £500 is also declared to be "Speciel
Gooda," and will be carried under special contract only, and, in addition to the
charges for insurance hereinafter mentioned, a charge will be made to cover the cost
of sending a messenger in charge of the consignment. When goods are declared in
the consignmentnote to be "Speciel Gooda," and the value is also stated therein, a
charge of 1 per cent. on such value will be made for insuring the same, except in the
case of horees or other live-stock, for which the charge for insurance shall be 5 per
cent. on the declared value. The value of each package must be separa.tely stated.
The Minister reaerves the right to inspeot all goods and live-stock before insuring
or acoepting same for transiL. For this purpose, if considered neceasary, any package
muat be opened by the sender at his own expeuse.

Notices for the supply of trucka given by persons intending to consign goods
theraby will be acoepted for fulfilment conditionally only upon its being found
convenieut to the Department to supply them upon the due date. The Railway
Departrnent will not be responsible for any loss or damage arising through
fa.illure from any cause to have trucka available by any particular date or train.
The Railway Department will not be responsible for the delivery of goods by
any particular train or at any particular time.

(35.) 1mper.ial Institute, London.

Exhibits consigned for shipmeut to the Agellt-Gener.al for New Zealaud, and
markecl "For exhibitiou at the Impcrial Institute, London," will be carried free of
r.ailway charge.

(36.) Exhibits for Museums.

Exhibits consigned to Public Museums in New Zealaud, and marked by sender or
certified by curator as "For exhihition at Museum," will be carried
free of railway charge.

New Zealaud Iudustria.l Exhihition, 1896-97.

Exhibits consigned for exhihition at the New Zealaud Iudustria.l Exhihition,
1896-97, will be carried free on the New Zealaud Government Railwaya, provided
that they shall be so carried at the sole risk of the consignors, and that each
package shall be consigned to the Secretary of the Exhihition and marked legibly
"For Exhih. it at the New Zealaud Iudustria.l Exhihition, Wellington." The
loading and unloading must be done at the expeuse of the consignors. In the event
of such exhibits being sold the full railway charges must be paid.

Exhibits returning will be oonveyed free, provided no sale or exchange has been
effected. A certificate to this effect must be produced, signed by the Secretary of the
Exhibition, before the goods can be received for transiL free of charge.
