REGULATI0NS—continued.
(14.) Fr'uit and V'eg'etables.
The maximum charges for fruit and v'eg'etables, fresh, New-Zealand-grown,
packed, will be as follows for any distance:—
Not exceedin'g 561b. ... ... ... 0 6
Over 561b., but not exceedin'g 1121b. ... ... 1 0
For every additional 561b. or' fra'ction thereof ... ... 0 6
In addition, a charge of 3d. for each hundredweight, or' part of a hundredweight,
will be made for fruit and v'eg'etables, charged at these maximum rates, consigned to
Aucklan'd, Christchurch, D'un'ed'in, or Invercargill.
Returned empty fruit and vegetable packages will be carried free.
(15.) Game, D'ead Hares, D'ead Rabbits, and Fr'esh F'ish.
The maximum charges for game, dead hares, dead' rabbit's, and fresh fish will
be as follows for any distance :—
Not exceedin'g 71b. ... ... ... 0 6
Over 71b., but not exceedin'g 141b. ... ... 1 0
Over 141b., but not exceedin'g 281b. ... ... 1 6
In addition, a charge of 3d. for each 281b., or part of 281b., will be made
for game, dead hares, dead' rabbit's, and fresh fish, charged at these maximum
rate's, consigned to Aucklan'd, Christchurch, D'un'ed'in, or Invercargill.
(16.) Grass- and Clover-seeds returning from Seed-cleaning
Estab'lishments.
Grass- and clover-seeds forwarded by rail to seed-cleaning establishments to
be clea'ne'd will, if returned from the original consignee to the original sender,
be carried back to the original sending-station free.
When grass- or clover-seed is returned under this regu'lation the consignment-
note must be indorsed as follows : "This grass- (or clover-) seed was received for
clea'ning on , and is entit'led to be carried back free.```
(17.) G'oods and Live Stock con'veyed by Special Trains.
Specia'l trai'ns ordered by consignors for con'veyance of goods and live stock, which
c'ould be worked by the ordi'na'ry tra'in service, will be charged 10s. per mile;
minimum charge, £3. This charge will be in addition to the ordi'na'ry charges for
the con'veyance of the goods. The mileage will be cou'nted one way only. The
dist'ance which a train has to run empty to commence a service will be charged at
the rate of 5s. per mile.
(18.) Circuses.
Circuses con'veyed by ordi'na'ry trai'ns will be charged as follows:—
Ani'mals, living, including ani'mals in cag' es, at live-stock rates.
Veh'icles, empty, at rates for carts, drays, &c.
Veh'icles loaded with material, or in same truck with material, as material. (See
below.)
Material, 9d. per 4-wheel truck per mile; 1s. 6d. per double-bog'ie truck per mile.
Mini'mum charge per 4-wheel truck, 15s. ; per double-bog'ie truck, 30s.
Circuses which c'ould be con'veyed by ordi'na'ry trai'ns, but for which special trai'ns
are ordered by the owners, will be charged as follows:—
Per carriage containing passeng'ers ... ... ... 2 6 per mile.
Per 4-wheel truck ... ... ... 1 0 ,,"
Per double-bog'ie truck ... ... ... 2 0 ,,"
Mini'mum charge ... ... ... 20 0 ,,"
The dist'ance which a train has to run to commence a service will be charged at
the rate of 5s. per mile. The mini'mum charge for a special train will be £20.
Specia'l trai'ns will be run only at the option of the Depart'ment.
All loading and unloading to be performed by the owners at their own risk and re-
sponsibility.
(19.) Locom'otiv e Engin es.
Locomotiv e engin es running on their own wheel s will be charged 1s. 6d. per
m'ile; minimum charge, £1.
(20.) Carts, Drays, Ex'press Wagons, and Wagons, either set up
or in pieces, each.
For any dist'ance of not more than 10 miles ... 1 0 per mile.
For every mile after the first 10 miles ... 0 3 ,,"
