Notice of Request to amend Specification.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 4th August, 1896.

A REQUEST for leave to amend the specification (in-
cluding drawings) relating to the under-mentioned
application for Letters Patent has been received, and is
open to public inspection at this office. Any person may,
at any time within one month from the date of this Gazette,
give me notice in writing of opposition to the amendments.
Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of ob-
jection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable
thereon :—
No. 8342.—6th March, 1896.—Frank Victor Raymond,
Solicitor, and Arthur Edward Otway, Commercial Traveller,
both of Invercargill, New Zealand. An invention entitled
"The Adjustable Folding Cabin-table."
The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows,
viz.:—

  1. To insert immediately after line 18, page 2, the follow-
ing paragraph: "An alternative construction of the table
for fixing to the wall on the side of the berth is shown
in diagram 5, wherein K is a plate by which the table is
fastened to the wall. This plate, as will be well understood,
may work in a guide as before described. L is a joint con-
necting the plate with a bar M. The joint is shown in the
plans. The bar M passes through two lugs o underneath
the table, these acting as bearings for the bar. The bar is
circular, so that the table may be revolved to any position,
and is provided with a fixed serrated washer N, and opposite
and acting in unison with this is another serrated washer P,
fixed to the table. The other end of rod M is screwed, on
which is arranged to work a thumb-screw R for fastening
the table-top by pressing it against the serrated washer P."

  2. To insert immediately after line 9, page 3, the follow-
ing words, &c. : "When the table shown in figure 5 is to be
used, bar M is lowered upon the stop, and the table-top
fastened by the thumb-screw R at any required slope. To
fold the table this operation is reversed. Where the plate K
is fixed to the wall, so that the table folds parallel with the
berth, the bar M is pulled to the required position, and the
table-top rotated to the desired angle, and fastened thereat
by means of the thumb-screw R."

  3. To add four figures to the drawings.
The applicants state, "Our reason for such amendment is
to provide for the construction of the table in the alternative
mode, and to insure further protection for our said in-
    vention."
