THE following notice, received from the Chair man of
the Cook County Council, is published in accord-
ance with the prov isions of "The Local B odies' Loan
Act, 1886. "

At a poll of the ratepayers in the Arakihi Special District,
taken on 10th July, 1896, upon a proposal by this Council
to raise a loan of £800 for the construction of a dray - road
to Runs 43 and 42a, Arakihi, the following votes were
recorded:—

For the proposal: 3 persons exercised 3 votes.

As the whole of the ratepayers in the special district
voted in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

A majority of ratepayers, exercising a majority of votes,
ha ving voted for the proposal, I therefore declare the proposal
carried.

T H AT the following special order be hereb y adopt ed: That
the present exist ing Apiti, O ngo, and Hautapu R idings be
hereb y formed into five new ridings, to be named the Apiti,
R angiwahia, O ngo, O t a m a k a p u a, and Hautapu R idings, with
bound aries as described below. Such special order to come
int o force on the 1st day of November, 1896.

Apiti R iding.

Bounded on the north by the north - east ern bound aries of
Sections 79, 72, and 68, Block V I., Apiti, to the Kimb olton
Road; thence along the said road to the G orge Road; thence
along the G orge Road to the bounda ry - line between Sections
67 and 59, Block V I I., Apiti; thence along the said bounda ry
to the Oroua River; thence along the centre of the said
river to the south ern bounda ry of Section 6, Block X I V.,
Apiti: thence along the south ern bound aries of Sections 6
and 1, Block X I V., Apiti, Township of B irmingh am; Sec-
tions 26, 25, 24, 92, 48, and 47, Block X I I I., Apiti; and
Sections 46 and 45, Block X V I., O ngo, to the K i w i t e a
Stream: thence by the centre of the said stream to the
starting - point.

R angiwahia R iding.

Bounded on the north by the R angitikei County to the
summit of the R uahine Ranges; toward the east by that
summit to a point bear ing north 69° west, true meri-
dian, to the source of the Oroua River; towards the south
by a right line to that source; towards the south - east
generally by a line along the middle of the Oroua River to
the north ern bounda ry of the Apiti R iding, thence along
that bounda ry to the K i w i t e a Stream, thence generally on
the west by the bounda ries of the Hautapu and O t a m a k a p u a
R idings.

O ngo R iding.

Bounded towards the north, commencing at the R angi-
tikei River, at the division - line between Sections 63 and 51,
Block X I., O ngo; thence along the said line to the north ern
line; thence along the north ern line to the division - line
btween Sections 60, Block X I., O ngo, and 80, Block V I I.,
O ngo; thence along the said division - line to the Mangapipi
Road; thence along the Mangapipi Road to the west ern
bounda ry of Section 19, Block X I I., O ngo; thence along the
west ern bound aries of Sections 19, Block X I I., 17 and 14,
Block I X., Apiti, to the Pakihikura Road; thence in an
east erly direction along the said road to the K i w i t e a - Tapu a e
Road; thence along the K i w i t e a - Tapu a e Road to the south-
ern bounda ry of Section 12, Block I X., Apiti; thence along
the said bounda ry - line of Section 12, Block I X., Apiti, to the
K i w i t e a Stream; thence by the centre of the said stream to
the south ern corner of Section 45, Block X V I., O ngo; thence
int o a direct line along the south ern bound aries of Sections 13

Bounded on the north by the O tara and Mangam a k o
Roads, commencing at the R angitikei River, and running
int o an east erly direction to the K i w i t e a Stream; thence
along the centre of the K i w i t e a Stream to the north ern
bounda ry of the O ngo R iding; thence along the north ern
bounda ry of the O ngo R iding to the R angitikei River; thence
along the centre of the said river to the starting - point.

Hautapu R iding.

Bounded on the north by the centre of the K auw at au
River, commencing at the j unction of said river and the
R angitikei River, to the north - east corner of the O t a m a k a-
pua 2B Block, Block X I I., Hautapu S urvey District; thence
along the east ern bound aries of the O t a m a k a p u a Block 2B
and Section 19, Block X I I., Hautapu, to the south ern
bounda ry of Section 19, Block X I I., Hautapu; thence along
the south ern bounda ry of the said section to the T itir angi
Road; thence along the said road to the south ern bounda ry
of Section 3, Block X V I., Hautapu; thence along the said
bounda ry to the east ern bounda ry of Section 2, Block X V I.,
Hautapu; thence generally along the east ern bound aries of
