  1. The lessee must f ence the land le ased with a ring-fence
    within the second year of the term; and such f ence must
    be sufficient to com ply in all re spects with "The F encing
    Act, 1895," or any other law to re gulate the f encing of land
    which shall f or the time being be in f orce.
  2. The lessee must once a year properly cut and trim all
    l ive f ences now on the land, or which may be planted upon
    the land during the term, and stub all gorse not growing as
    f ences, and also stub all broom, sweetbriar, and other
    noxious plants.
  3. The lessee must not take more than three cro ps, one
    of which must be a root-crop, f rom the same land in succes
    sion; and either with or imme diately af ter a third cro p of
    any kind the land must be sown down with good permanent
    cultivated grasses and clovers, and be allowed to remain as
    pasture f or at least three years f rom the harv esting of last
    cro p bef ore being again cro pped.
  4. At all times during the le ase the land must be so
    f armed that not less than one-th ird of the f arm be main
    tained in permanent pasture.
  5. The lessee must not cut the cultivating grass or clovers
    f or h a y or seed during the f irst year f rom the time of s owing
    as aforesaid.
  6. The lessee must not burn any str aw grown upon the
    land.
  7. The lessee must once a year properly clean, clear from
    weeds, and keep open all creeks, dr ains, d itches, and water
    c ourses which now are or may be upon the land, and the
    C ommissioner of C rown Lands or any C rown Lands R anger
    of the district shall have the power at any time to enter
    upon and make any dr ain through the land that he may
    deam necessary.
  8. In the event of the lessee f ailing to com ply with any
    of the covenants hereinbef ore mentioned re lating to the
    trimming of l ive f ences and stubbing gorse, broom, and
    sweetbriar, and to the cleaning, clearing f rom weed s, and
    keep ing open all creeks, dr ains, d itches, and waterc ourses, it
    sh all be lawful f or the said C ommissioner to have such work
    done, and to recover the cost of the same f rom the lessee.
  9. All buildings, f ences, and other im provements erect ed
    upon the land shall be kept in good order and re pair.
  10. The lessee shall be liable f or all rates, taxes, and
    assessments during the term.
  11. Subiect as aforesaid, the prov isions of "The Land Act, 1892," and re gulations made thereunder with re spect to ap
    plications f or and the grant of le ases in perp etuity, shall
    apply, so f ar as applicable, to all applications f or le ases
    under "The Land f or Set tlements Act, 1894. "

    and benef it, and not directly or indir ectl y f or the use or
    bene f it of any other person or persons whomsoev er.
  4. That, including the land now ap plied f or, I am not the
    owner, ten ant, or occup ier, directly or indir ectl y, either by
    myself or jointly with any other person or persons, of any
    land acquir ed under "The Land f or Set tlements Act, 1894," or of any lands anyw here in the c olony, ex ceeding in the
    w hole 640 acr es of land (or 320 acr es in the case of a marr ied
    w oman).
  5. That I have not, within one year f rom the date hereof,
    surr endered a le ase in perp etuity of the lands f or a le ase
    w hereof I am now ap plying.
    And I make this solemn declar ation consc ientiously be
    liev ing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the
    General As sembly of New Ze aland intituled "The J ustices
    of the Peac e Act, 1882. "

r oads leading into or tow ards that tow nship. They consist
pr incipally of land in the M a k uri and adjoin ing v alleys, or
countr y s l oping into or served by them or their r oad
s ystems. The land, taken as a w hole, w ould be considered
s uitable for shee p-f arming, as it contains some good s oil
on p apa or l imestone f or mation. The sections are in a
high state of im prov ement, the extent and value of which
are stated against the number of each.
The im prov ements have to be paid f or in cash on the day
on which the ap plication is ap prov ed.
