NOTICE OF INTENTION TO DEVIATE LINE OF WATER-RACE 8824.
MINING—343-96, SECTION 105, SUBSECTION 5.
Westland, Orwell Creek, 23rd June, 1896.
To the Warden at Ahaura, and to all others whom it may concern.
WE hereby give notice that we intend to deviate course of Water-race No. 8824, to divert and use water for mining purposes. Commencing from and at a point at a peg marked A at the southern bank of Orwell Creek, about 30 chains west from Philip Duggan’s residence at said Orwell Creek, and about 10ft. west or below the outlet, and of the tail-race known as the Napoleon Hill Company’s old tail-race; thence southerly over and through freehold section numbered 2, Block II., Ahaura S.D., owned and occupied by said Philip Duggan, for a distance of about 10 chains to a road reserve; thence along the northern side of and running parallel with said road reserve in a westerly direction for a distance of 5 chains, more or less; thence southerly and intersecting said road reserve to the northern boundary of freehold section numbered 246, Block II., Ahaura S.D., known as Garven’s; thence in a south-westerly course, and intersecting said section numbered 246, for a distance of 12 chains, and terminating at and connecting with said water-race numbered 8824, at a peg marked B at a point thereof at Blackwater Creek.
The length of such deviation is 26 chains or thereabouts, and its intended course is southerly and westerly.
The mean depth of such race is 2ft., and the mean breadth is 3ft.
Cost of construction: £100.
Time required for construction: Eight months.
Number and date of miner’s right: William Passena, 6463, 7th October, 1895; Peter Passena, 6462, 7th October, 1895—applicants.
Any person objecting to the granting of this application must lodge his objection in writing at the Warden’s Office at Ahaura within fourteen clear days from the date hereof.
Hearing at 11.30 a.m. o’clock on the 27th July, 1896, at Ahaura.
