Resuming Land held under Perpetual Lease for the Pur-
poses of a Road.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and fifty-eight of
"The Land Act, 1885" (hereinafter termed "the
said Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor in
Council may, by Proclamation, resume possession of any
land leased under Part IV. of the said Act which in his
opinion is required for any public purpose:
And whereas the lands described in the Schedule hereto
form part of lands which are held on perpetual lease from
Her Majesty the Queen under Part IV. of the said Act,
dated the twentieth day of June, one thousand eight hun-
dred and ninety-one: And whereas in the opinion of the
Governor the land described in the Schedule hereto is re-
quired for a public purpose—that is to say, for the purposes
of a public road or highway:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred upon me by "The Land Act,
1885," and of all other powers and authorities in any wise
enabling me in that behalf, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that I hereby resume
possession of the lands described in the Schedule hereto for
the public purpose hereinbefore mentioned, the same being
part of the lands as held under lease as aforesaid; and do
also hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation
shall take effect on the thirteenth day of January, one thou-
sand eight hundred and ninety-six.
SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by
admeasurement 16 acres 1 rood 16 perches, more or less,
being a strip of land 100 links wide, situated in Pepepe
Parish, the north side of which starts at a point on the
north-east boundary-line of Section No. 193 of said parish
distant 7110 links from its northernmost corner, and pro-
ceeds in a westerly direction generally for a distance of
15694 links to the north-eastern boundary-line of that sec-
tion; be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same
is delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 27716, deposited in
the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at
Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
coloured red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and St. George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;
and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of January, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the second section of "The Government
Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1891"
(herein termed "the said Act"), it is, amongst other things,
enacted that, before certain moneys therein mentioned shall
be expended upon any block of land, it shall be necessary
that the same be proclaimed as set apart for settlement:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power
and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the pur-
poses of the said Act, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Go-
vernor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim
the block of land described in the Schedule hereto as set
apart for settlement.
SCHEDULE.
PUNIWHAKAU Block.
All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by
admeasurement 10,695 acres, more or less, being sections
numbered respectively 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21,
