nolly, Walter Thomas, and Millen Coughtrey to be Surgeon-
Majors, under paragraph 73, Volunteer Regulations, 1895.

Major Alfred Headland; date of resignation, 17th May,

Unattached Active List, New Zealand Volunteers, from the
above date, with the seniority held by him prior to being
appointed to the battalion.

Nelson City Rifle Volunteers
as from the 16th March, 1896.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Greytown.

THE following notice, received from his Worship the
Mayor of the Borough of Greytown, is published in
accordance with the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1886."

Notice of Result of Poll.

In the matter of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," and
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886," and the respec-
tive amendments thereof.
I HEREBY give notice that the following is the result of the
poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Greytown, taken on
the 3rd day of June, 1896, upon the proposal to raise a
special loan of £2,000 for water-supply purposes:—
Votes in favour of the proposal, 134; votes against the
proposal, 10; voters in favour of the proposal, 98; voters
against the proposal, 8.
As the number of votes in favour of the proposal exceeded
half the total number of votes exercisable, and the number
of voters in favour of the proposal exceeded half the total
number of ratepayers on the roll, I hereby declare the said
proposal to have been carried.
Dated the 4th day of June, 1896.

Notice of the Laying-off of a Road over Native Land in the Omapere Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given, under the authority contained
in section 72 of "The Native Land Court Act, 1894," and the amendments thereof, that the road mentioned in the
Schedule hereto was, on the 16th August, 1895, surveyed and
laid off over the Native land therein mentioned, under my
direction; and that, in terms of the said Act, the site of
such road shall be deemed to be a road dedicated to the
public, and shall vest in Her Majesty.
