Native Land proposed to be taken for a Road in the Horo-
whenua County.

GLASGOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this third day
of December, 1895.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
are required to be taken for a public work, to wit,
the construction of a road to the cemetery at Otaki, through
Block Nine, Waitohu Survey District:
And whereas the said lands are held or occupied by Native
owners under a title which is not derived from the Crown:
And whereas a map in duplicate has been prepared of the
said lands by the Horowhenua County Council, as required
by the eighty-eighth section of "The Public Works Act,
1894":
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in him by the eighty-eighth section of the said Act,
and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this
behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the land
shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto,
shall be deemed to be taken for the purpose of the said road,
and the said land shall vest in Her Majesty as from the fourth
of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

tioned, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands
and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District,
and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

Polling-places for the City of Christchurch Electoral District
abolished and appointed.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by "The Elec-
toral Act, 1893," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish
the existing polling-places for the Electoral District of City
of Christchurch, and do hereby appoint the under-mentioned
places to be polling-places for the said Electoral District of
City of Christchurch:—

The Old Provincial Council Chamber, Durham Street
(principal).
The Opera House, Tuan Street.
St. John's Schoolroom, Madras Street.
The Oddfellows' Hall, Montreal Street.
The Foresters' Hall, Vogel Street.
Hibernian Hall, Barbadoes Street.
Mission Hall, Colombo Road, Sydenham.
Public Library, Waltham Road.
The Methodist Schoolroom, Selwyn Street, Addington.
St. Albans Borough Council Office, Papanui Road.
The Mutual Improvement Hall, Knightstown.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this thirteenth day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-six.
