NOTICE OF INTENTIO N TO CON STRUCT W ATER-
RACE.

"The M ining Act 1886 Am endm ent A c t, 1887. "

W estland, 27th A p ril, 1896.

To the W arden at H okitika.
W E hereb y give notice that we inten d to con struct a
water-race to div ert and use water for m ining pur-
poses, comm encing at a point on the west side of the K anieri
L ake, and running generally in a w esterly direction, and is
the race known as the K anieri L ake W ater-race, which has
b een con structed, but the tunnels and flum ing for the greater
part require to be renewed, and term inating at the H au H au
T errace.
The race takes in th irty -four tunnels in course from
chain long to 60 chain s, and th irty -tw o flum es.
The length of such race is th irteen m iles or thereabouts,
and its intended course is from east to west, and passes
th rough Section 1777, K anieri Surve y D istrict.
The m ean d ep th of such race is 5ft., and the m ean breadth
is 7ft., and it is proposed to div ert f ifty Governm ent heads of
water.
Cost of construction: £10,000.
T im e required for construction: Tw o years.
