  1. One half-year's rent and £1 1s. for the lea se, and the sum
    of £233 7s., being the value of f encing and shee p-yards, must
    be paid immediately the application is declared successful ;
    the rent to be paid half-yearly in advance during the term of
    the lea se. The next payment of rent will become due on
    the 1st March, 1897.

  2. The lessee has no right to purchase any part of the land ;
    but he can select 150 a c res around the homestea d through
    which no road can be taken or other public privile ge exer -
    cised without comp ensation.

Note.—One-f ourth of the rent paid during the first fifteen
yea rs is returned to the local body, to be spent in improv ing
the access to the land.

    and benefit, and not, directly or indir e c tly, for the use of
    any other person or persons whatever.
  4. That I am not already the holder of any such lea se in
    any part of the colon y, nor have I any interest in any such
    lea se.
  5. That I am not the holder of any run under Part V I. of
    the aforesaid Act, nor have I any interest in any such
    run.
  6. That I do not own any freehold land or land held by
    lea se or license of any kind whatever anywhere in the
    colony, either by myself or jointly with any other person ,
    which, exclusive of the land I am now purcha sing the lea se
    of, will exceed in area 1,000 a c res.

And I make this solemn declarat i on consci entiously be -
lieving the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zea land intituled " The Justices
of the Pea ce Act, 1882. "

NOTICE is hereb y given that the under-mentioned
small grazing -run will be open for lea se on applica -
tion, at this office, on and after the 17th June, 1896, at the
half-yearly renta l noted opposite the run. In case of more
than one application for the run on the same day, priority
of selection will be decided by ba llot on the following day ,
at 11 a.m.

Conditions of Lea se.

  1. The term of lea se is tw enty -one years, with the option
    of renew al for a further period of tw enty -one years, at a rent
    to be fixed by valuation, and improv ements being sec ured to
    lessee as provided by " The Land Act, 1892," section 132.
    Each lessee is required to make the declarat i on as per form
    printed below.

  2. No person can lea se more than one run.

  3. Residenc e on the run is compulsory, and commences
    within three years in brush or swa mp land, and within one
    year in open or pa r t ly open land, unless the lessee obtain
    the consent of the Land Board to res ide on other land in his
    occupation.

  4. Permanent improv ements must be effec t ed equal to one
    year's renta l by the end of the first year, two years' renta l
    by the end of the second year, and four years' renta l at the
    end of the six th year ; and on brush land, in addition thereto ,
    improvements must be made to the value of 10s. an a c re if
    first-class land, or of 5s. an a c re if second-class land.

This section is situat ed on the nor thern shor e of La ke
Ellesmere, about two miles and a quarter to the south-west -
wa r d of the Greenpa rk Railway-sta t i on on the Little River
bra nch line of railway, and comp r ises a r eas both above and
below the f lood-level. The portion above f lood-level cons ists
generally of light sa ndy so il carrying medium pastur e, chiefly
rye -grass and clover. The area below f lood-level comp r ises
light sa ndy so il with inferior pastur e.
