Notifying Lands in Auckland for Sale by Public Auction.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Friday, the third day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, as the time at which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction at Auckland; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.

Land temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Auckland and Canterbury.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land Districts of Auckland and Canterbury described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the description of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, being Section No. 199A of the Parish of Manurewa, containing by admeasurement 5 acres 2 roods 10 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the north-east by the Great South Road, 202 links; towards the south-east by land granted to W. T. Fairburn, 2787 links; towards the south-west by a line, 200 links; and towards the north-west by land granted to W. T. Fairburn, 2764 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a canal reserve.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, being Section No. 199B of the Parish of Manurewa, containing by admeasurement 3 acres 2 roods 32 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, 208 links; towards the south-east by land granted to W. T. Fairburn, 1811 links; towards the south-west by the Great South Road, 202 links; and towards the north-west by land granted to W. T. Fairburn, 1894 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a canal reserve.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, being Section No. 56 of the Parish of Karioi, containing by admeasurement 98 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north by the Rakanui Native Reserve, 4490 links; towards the north-east by the same reserve, 1079 and 241 links; towards the south-east by a public road, 510, 676, 1326, and 720 links; and towards the south-west by a public road, 450, 1735, 833, 1040, and 295 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For the use of aboriginal natives.
CANTERBURY.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 16 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Section No. 3089, in red, Block VI., Leeston Survey District. Bounded towards the northward by Rural Section No. 20959 and a road-line; towards the north-east by a road-line and the western boundary of Rural Section No. 3597; and towards the southward by the River Selwyn; save and excepting thereout Reserve 2487, in red, containing 9 acres 3 roods, which is included within the above-described boundaries: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For river protection purposes.
All those four parcels of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement respectively 1 acre 3 roods, 2 acres 3 roods, 4 acres 3 roods, and 22 acres, being a total area of 31 acres 1 rood, more or less, and being reserve numbered 3092 in red, Block V., on the map of the Wakanui Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Rural Section 7201; towards the east by the River Ashburton; towards the south by Rural Section No. 27095; and towards the west by Rural Section 36591 and a road-line; save and excepting Reserve 1111 in red, which is within the above-described boundaries. As a reserve for secondary education.

Changing the Name of Alexandra (Auckland).

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS there are now existing two places in the Colony of New Zealand bearing the same name, that is to say, the Borough of Alexandra, in the County of Vincent, and the Township of Alexandra, in the Waipa County, the last-named being the more recent in date of existence: And whereas, under the fourth section of “The Designation of Districts Act, 1894,” I lately required the County Council of the Waipa County, being the local authority having jurisdiction in that behalf, to submit a new name for such township for my approval, as mentioned in the said section: And whereas the said Council hath accordingly submitted to me the name of “Pirongia” in lieu of the existing name of “Alexandra”:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by sections two and four of “The Designation of Districts Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the name of the Township of Alexandra, in the Waipa County, shall be and the same is hereby altered to “Pirongia,” and do assign the last-mentioned name to such township accordingly, and also do hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the tenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.
