HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the following persons acting on the Committee for the care, management, and protection of the Awamoko portion of the Waitaki Islands, in terms of the regulations for the management of the Awamoko portion of the said islands, dated the 11th September, 1895, viz.:-

JOHN WALLS, of Redcliffe, Farmer,
ROBERT JOHNSTON, of Uxbridge, Labourer, and
GERALD MORRIS, of Duntroon, Teacher,

in place of the following persons who have retired in terms of the said regulations: viz., George Geddes, Walter Hope, and Peter Bourke.

THE following special order, made by the Manganui Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

MANGANUI ROAD BOARD.

Notice is hereby given that the following special order was made on Saturday, the 7th March, 1896, and confirmed on Saturday, the 11th April, 1896:-

"That, to secure the repayment of a further loan of £83, raised under 'The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,' for the purpose of completing the formation and metalling on the Croydon Road from the Mountain Road eastwards, a special rate of 1d. in the pound be made and levied over the following lands—namely, Sections 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, part 7 (66 acres), 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, of Block IX., Huiroa Survey District. Such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and shall be payable in two half-yearly instalments on the 1st of January and the 1st of July in each year."

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made in accordance with "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

MOA ROAD BOARD.

(1) THAT, to secure the repayment of a loan of £400, raised under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of metalling a portion of the Dudley Road West, from Section 131, Moa, westwards, (2) a special rate of 5d. in the pound be made and levied over the following lands, which are hereby constituted the Dudley Road West Special Rating District: Sections part 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 138, 139, Moa; Sections 1, 2, 3, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, Block VII., Egmont Survey District; Sections 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, Block VIII., Egmont Survey District; Section 1, Block XI., Egmont Survey District. Such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and to be payable in two half-yearly instalments, on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each year.

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Fitzherbert Road Board at the Ordinary Meeting held on Tuesday, the 14th Day of April, 1896.

THAT a special rate of 8d. in the pound be made on the value of the following properties—Sections 206, 218, 219, 220, 221, 223, and 224, Block XV., Kairanga Survey District; 222, 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 230, 231, and 232, Block XI., Kairanga Survey District; 233, 238, 234, 235, 236, 237, 239, 242, 244, 246, 240, 241, 243, 245, 247, 249, 251, 253, 248, 250, 252, and 254, Block XII., Kairanga Survey District; 290, 291, 292, 293, 294, 303, 297, 298, 299, 300, 301, 302, and 304, Block XVI., Kairanga Survey District; 360, 361, 362, 363, 364, 365, 366, and 367, Block V., Gorge Survey District; 368, 369, 370, 371, 372, and 373, Block IV., Gorge Survey District; 1, 3, 5, 7, and 8, Block II., Mangahao Survey District; and 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, and part 12, Block XIX., Mangahao Survey District; and all within the Fitzherbert Road District—for the purpose of providing interest and other annual charges on a loan of £2,500, borrowed under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the construction of the Cliff Road, Fitzherbert East, commencing at the north-west boundary of Section 206, Block XV., Kairanga Survey District; from thence to a distance of about 125 chains to form a junction with the Main Road East near the north-east boundary of Section 221, Block XV., Kairanga Survey District; both sections being in the Fitzherbert Road District. The construction to embrace formation, bridges, culverts, metalling, fencing, and compensation for land to be taken. Such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for a period of twenty-six years, and shall be payable at the office of the Fitzherbert Road Board in two instalments—namely, on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each year.

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order has been duly made by the Fitzherbert Road Board as required by "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

MANAWATU ROAD BOARD.

RESULT of poll taken on Wednesday, the 26th day of February, 1896, at the residence of Mr. G. Muller, Long Melford Road, on the proposal to borrow £165, under "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," and "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," and amendments, to clear, form, and metal the Long Melford Road, in the Manawatu Road District, from College Street to the termination of the Long Melford Road:—

Number of voters on special roll, 7, representing 7 votes: 6 voters, representing 6 votes, voted in favour of the proposal, and 1 voter, representing 1 vote, did not vote.

I therefore declare such proposal to be carried.
