Governor in Council, and proclaimed in the Government
Gazette twenty-one days at least before the times so fixed
respectively :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby fix that a
sitting of the Court of Appeal of New Zealand shall be held
within the Supreme Court House, in the City of Wellington,
upon Monday, the twenty-seventh day of April, one thou-
sand eight hundred and ninety-six, at eleven o'clock in the
forenoon.

Prescribing a Close Season for Oysters in Manukau Harbour.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thirtieth
day of March, 1896.

Present:

The Honourable W. C. WALKER presiding in Council.

WHEREAS it is provided by section five of "The Sea-
fisheries Act, 1894," that the Governor in Council
may from time to time make regulations which shall have
general force and effect throughout the colony, or particular
force and effect only in any waters or places specified there-
in, for, amongst other things, prescribing a close season
during which it shall be unlawful for any person to take
oysters:

And whereas it is desirable to prescribe a close season for
oysters in Manukau Harbour:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, and of all
other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf,
and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, do hereby make the following
Regulations:—

REGULATIONS.

  1. The period from the first day of April, one thousand
    eight hundred and ninety-six, to the thirteenth day of
    November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, both
    days inclusive, is hereby prescribed a close season for
    oysters.

  2. These regulations shall have force and effect in all the
    bays, estuaries, and tidal waters of Manukau Harbour
    situated inside a straight line drawn from the summit of
    Paratutu, on the North Head, to the lighthouse on the
    South Head of that harbour.

  3. Any person committing a breach of these regulations
    shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty pounds,
    nor less than twenty shillings, to be recovered as is by the
    said Act provided.

Shooting Season for Imported and Native Game, License-fee,
&c., Bay of Islands District.

N exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals
Protection Act, 1880," and the Acts amending the same,
I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock pheasants and
quail may be taken or killed within the Bay of Islands
District, consisting of the Counties of Bay of Islands,
Hokianga, Whangaroa, and Mongonui, from the 1st day of
May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, to the
30th day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-
six, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in
the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that
licenses to take or kill such game within the said district
shall be issued on payment of the sum of ten shillings each,
and that licenses to sell game and native game shall be
issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the
Postmasters at Rawene and Whangaroa, Kawakawa, Mongo-
nui, and Ohaeawai are hereby appointed to sign and issue
the said licenses.

And I do further declare that native game, excepting
native pigeon, tui, huia, white heron, and crested grebe,
may be taken or killed within the above-mentioned district
from the fourth day of April, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-six, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-six, both days inclusive.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-fifth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-six.

Rural Lands in the Hawke's Bay Land District open for
Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

GLASGOW, Governor.

I
N pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by "The Land for Settlements Act,
1894," and the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of "The
Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of
the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said one hun-
dred and thirty-sixth section is provided, do hereby declare
that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto
shall be open for selection on and after the sixth day of
May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, and that
the said lands may be selected on lease in perpetuity, sub-
ject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892"; and I do
hereby declare that the rentals at which the said lands shall
be leased shall be those mentioned in the said Schedule
hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.
