Regulations determining the Liability of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company (Limited) in respect to certain Classes of Goods termed “Special Goods.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twelfth
day of March, 1896.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
contained in subsections two and five of section one
hundred and ten of “The Railways Construction and Land
Act, 1881,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling
him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make
the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
REGULATIONS.
- All goods specified as “special goods” in the scale of
fares, rates, and charges in force for the time being on the
New Zealand Government Railways shall also be held to be
special goods when carried upon the railway of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company (Limited).
Any package or animal which exceeds in value the sum
of £500 is also declared to be “special goods,” and will be
carried under special contract only, and a charge, in addition
to the special rates hereinafter mentioned, will be made to
cover the cost of sending a messenger in charge of the consignment. When goods are declared in the consignment-note to be “special goods,” and the value is also stated
therein, special rates, being one-third more than the ordinary rates and charges for each £100 or fraction of £100 of
value so stated, will be made thereon. The value of each
package must be separately stated.

Validating Valuation-list prepared for the Borough of Ross.
GLASGOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thirteenth
day of March, 1896.

THE HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Rating Act, 1894,” it is enacted
that, if the local body fails through misadventure or
accident to do anything which by that Act is required to be
done in a fixed time, the Governor may, by an Order in
Council, published in the Government Gazette, and publicly
notified, extend the time for doing such thing, and may by
any such Order validate anything which may have been
irregularly done in matter of form, so that the intent and
purpose of the said Act may have effect:
And whereas the Valuer for the Borough of Ross inadvertently omitted to prepare, sign, and transmit to the
Borough Council of Ross, being the local authority of the
said borough, before the fifteenth day of February, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, the valuation-list of
the said borough, as required by the eighth section of the
said Act:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and
authority vested in me by the said Act, and by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, do hereby declare that the said valuation-list shall be
deemed to be valid, notwithstanding the delay in preparing,
signing, and transmitting the said list to the said Borough
Council.

Notifying Lands in Southland for Sale by Public Auction.
GLASGOW, Governor.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon
me by the one hundred and thirteenth section of “The
Land Act, 1892,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of May, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-six, as the time at which the lands
enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public
auction at Invercargill, and I do hereby fix the prices at
which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the
said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands
respectively.

Shooting Season for Imported and Native Game, License-fee, &c., Taranaki District.
GLASGOW, Governor.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals
Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same,
I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock pheasants and
Californian quail may be taken or killed within the Taranaki
District, consisting of the Counties of Taranaki, Clifton,
and Stratford (excepting therefrom the reserve known as
Mount Egmont Forest Reserve, being the area included
within the circumference of a circle having a radius of six
miles from the summit of the said Mount Egmont), from
the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-six, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-six, both inclusive (subject, nevertheless,
to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do
further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within
the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of
twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell game and
native game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five
pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster at New Plymouth
and the Postmaster at Stratford are hereby appointed to
sign and issue the said licenses.
And I do further declare that native game, excepting
native pigeon, tui, huia, white heron, and crested grebe, may
be taken or killed within the said district, excepting therefrom the aforesaid Mount Egmont Forest Reserve, from
the fourth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-six, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-six, both days inclusive.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this nineteenth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-six.
