Rural Lands in the Wellington Land District open for Sale or Selectlon.
GLASGOW, Governon.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirly-sixth section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Ear! of Glagow, the Governot of the Colonly of New Zealund, having received the report of the Survegor-General in this behulf, as in the said section is provided, do herehy declare that the roral lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the eighteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and niaety-six; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedale may, at the option of the applicunt, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupancy with right of purchase or on leuse in perputity, or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain any metal, minaral, or valuable stone, be selected on leuse in perputity only; and I do herehy also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occapied, or leused, as mentioned in the said Schedale hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occapied, or leused under and subject to the provisioas of "The Land Act, 1892. "

These comprise forf eited sections in the Marton Nos. 1 and 2. F arm-homest ead Association Bl ocks, and are sit uated near Rangiwahia, the distance therefrom vary ing from 2 1/2 to 5 1/2 miles, two of which are formed dray -road, the balance being open for horse -traffic only. All these sections, with the exception of Section 3, Block I., Umutoi, consist of good land on a p apa formati on, with a level area of from about th irty to one hundred ac res on each, and are all well watered. Si x of the sections are improved, having clearings vary ing in size from ten to n inety ac res.

This section is situ ated on the Makuri Valley Road, about three miles from Makuri, and consist s of hilly land with good so il on a l imestone formati on. The original forest consist ed chiefly of rata, r imu, tawa, &c. 297 ac res have been grassed, and f encing and other improv ements have also been effect ed, amounting in the aggr egate to £882 5s. The general character of the section, taken as a whole, is good. This section originally belong ed to M rs. Sherman, and was in the occupancy of Mr. Donald Donald.
Second-class Land.

This section is dist ant about ten miles from Pahiatua, the last four miles of which is a survey ed road only, the remaind er being a formed road. The land is broken, and lies at an altitude of about 1,500ft. The so il is good, on a l imestone formati on, heav ily t imbered, and fairly well watered. There are out standing rates, amounting to £1 14s., due to the Pahiatua County Council on this section.

Weighted with £102 for improvments. There is a liab ility of £2 10s. due to the Pahiatua County Council for out standing rates, and a special rate of 3d. for the construction of the Toritea Road.
These sections are situ ated about five miles from Makuri Township, three miles of which is by a met alled road, and the remaind er is rough walking road. The land is hilly, with fairly good so il on a sandstone formati on, covered with heavy forest, except that 8 ac res have been f elled on Section 13, and 40 ac res on Section 15. Both sections are well watered.
