with the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

RESULT of poll taken on the 22nd November, 1895, upon the
proposal to borrow £100, under "The Government Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886," to bridge and form Brewer Street,
in the Town of Strathmore, from the East Road to the
boundary of the Eltham Special Settlement:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 19; number of votes
exercisable, 19: Number of ratepayers voting in favour of
the proposal, 12; number of votes recorded in favour of the
proposal, 12; number of ratepayers voting against the pro-
posal, nil.
I declare the above proposal to be carried.

Downing Street, 1st October, 1895.
SIR,—I have the honour to state, for the information of your
Government, that the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs
has received from the Chilean Minister at this Court a note,
dated the 3rd September, 1895, denouncing the treaty of
friendship, commerce, and navigation signed between Great
Britain and Chile on the 4th October, 1854.
This notice of denunciation has been accepted, and the
provisions of the treaty—except those relating to peace and
friendship between the two countries and their subjects and
citizens, which continue obligatory for both parties—will
cease and determine on the 3rd September, 1896.
