IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 311 of
"The Counties Act, 1886," that so much of the by-law
made by the Grey County Council, and sealed on the 2nd
day of January instant, as appoints the several sums to be
paid to the county funds for the licensing of vehicles has this
day been approved by His Excellency the Governor.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans, Eketahuna Road
Board, County of Wairarapa North.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of
the Eketahuna Road Board, are published in accord-
ance with the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1886."

EKETAHUNA ROAD BOARD.
THE following is the result of a poll taken at the Road
Board Office, Eketahuna, 22nd January, 1895, upon a pro-
posal to raise a loan of £500 for formation and metalling on
South Road, Parkville:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 9; number of poll-
able votes, 9: Number of ratepayers who voted for the
proposal, 6, exercising 6 votes; number of ratepayers who
voted against the proposal, none; number of ratepayers who
did not exercise their votes, 3, being entitled to exercise 3
votes.
As the number of ratepayers who voted and the number of
votes recorded in favour of the proposal are in each case a
majority of the total number on the roll, I therefore declare
the proposal carried.

voted against the proposal, none; number of ratepayers who
did not exercise their votes, 7, being entitled to exercise 7
votes.
As the number of ratepayers who voted and the number of
votes recorded in favour of the proposal are in each case a
majority of the total number on the roll, I therefore declare
the proposal carried.

HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Result of poll for proposed loan of £3,000 for the Tokomaru
Riding, Horowhenua County:—
Notice is hereby given that the result of the poll taken on
the 19th day of January, 1895, on the proposal to borrow
£3,000 from the Colonial Treasurer, under "The Govern-
ment Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of
bridging the streams and completion of the main road in the
Tokomaru Riding, Horowhenua County, was as follows:—
Ratepayers on the roll, 210; votes exercisable on the roll,
255: Number who voted for the proposal, 99; number of
votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 122.
As a majority of the number of ratepayers, having a ma-
jority of the number of votes exercisable, did not vote for the
proposal, I hereby declare the proposal to be not carried.

ARAI ROAD BOARD.
I HEREBY give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the
Arai Valley Special District, taken this day, upon a proposal
by this Board to raise a loan of £1,500 for the purpose of
constructing the Arai Valley Road, the following votes were
recorded:—
For the proposal, 5 ratepayers, exercising 16 votes; against
the proposal, none: Total number on the roll, 6 ratepayers,
capable of exercising 21 votes.
As a majority of the ratepayers on the special roll voted in
favour of the proposal, and the number so voting exercised
more than one-half of the votes exercisable, I declare the
proposal to be carried.

CARRINGTON ROAD BOARD.
Special order made by the Carrington Road Board at a
special meeting held on the 15th day of January, 1895:—
"That, for the purpose of providing interest and other
annual charges on a loan of £1,500 under 'The Local
Bodies' Loans Act, 1886,' and 'The Government Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886,' and its amending Acts, to metal
such part of the Carrington Road lying within the Carrington
Road Board (No. 4) District as has not been already metalled,
a special rate of 1¾d. in the pound for twenty-six years be
made on the rateable value of the following sections and
parts of sections: Sections C and W, New Plymouth Town
Belt; also Section 32 (subdivided, and known as Vogel-
town); Sections 25, 45A, and 46, and 25 acres 1 rood
14 perches of the western part of Section 47, all in the
Fitzroy District; also Sections 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 60, 62,
73, 74, 75, 486, 487, 498, 509, 518, 519, 519A, 520, 521, 774B,
776, 779, 783, 784, and 791, all in the Grey District; and the
following parts of sections in the same district—namely,
12 acres of the eastern part of 59, 4 acres of the eastern part
of 72, 19 acres 2 roods of the south-eastern part of 485, 1 rood
of the south-eastern part of 485B, 9 acres 2 roods of the
eastern part of 485A, 7 acres 1 rood of the eastern part of 496,
48 acres 3 roods of the south-eastern part of 497, 36 acres

of the eastern part of 517, 4 acres of the north-western part
of 773, 23 acres of the western part of 522, 47 acres 1 rood of
the north-western part of 510, 4 acres of the western part of
511A, 38 acres 1 rood of the northern part of 499, 9 acres
3 roods of the north-western part of 500, 28 acres 3 roods of
the western and north-western parts of 488, 1 acre 2 roods of
the north-western part of 768B, and 30 acres 2 roods 20
perches of the south-western part of 61. Such rate to be an
annual recurring rate for twenty-six years, and payable in
two equal instalments on the 1st days of the months of
January and July in each year, at the Board's Office, New
Plymouth. The cost of raising the loan is paid out of the
loan."
