Rural Land in the Marlborough Land District open for Sale or Selection.
GLASGOW, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section
of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received
the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twentieth day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-five; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option
of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on lease in perpetuity,
or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease
in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as
mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and
subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

SECOND-CLASS LAND.
All bush, principally birch; steep hills, pastoral land; poor soil, well watered; accessible by boat from Havelock,
twenty-five miles, and partly by boat and partly by bridle-track from Picton, fifteen miles.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-five.

the one hundred and thirty-sixth sections of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the

thirty-sixth section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open
for selection on and after the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five; and also that the
lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which
the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased
under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

These sections, forming parts of Blocks V., VI., VII., and VIII. of the Lake Ellesmere Reserve, are situated on the
eastern shores of the lake, and comprise areas below the flood-level thereof, consisting of light sandy soil, carrying a
growth of saltweed, rushes, and in places good native forage-plants, the soil in the south-easternmost sections being of
better character, though this portion is more low-lying and much wetter than the rest.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-second day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-five.
