Note.—Total rainfall under the average, although very
showery during latter part of month; the maximum fall
recorded on 23rd, 1·27in. Variable winds, and on the whole
moderate, and frequent calms. Generally cold weather.
Hail on 19th, 20th, 22nd, and 25th. Fog on 7th, 14th, and
24th. Maximum temperature in shade 57°·3, minimum
32°; mean temperature of dew-point, 36°·5; mean hu-
midity, 73. Earthquake on 17th, at 12.45 a.m., very slight,
