be suspended within the Dominion of Canada so far as
relates to the said dependencies of Germany and to the said
treaty, and so long as the provisions of the Canadian Act
aforesaid of 1886 continue in force, and no longer.
And whereas the immediate operation of this Order is
urgent, this Order shall come into operation on the said third
day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

By-laws regulating Traffic on the Alfredton-Weber Road.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by
section 130 of "The Public Works Act, 1894," I, John
McKenzie, Minister of Lands, do, in respect of the Govern-
ment road known as the Alfredton-Weber Road, extending
from the Deep, or Falls, Creek, to the Pongaroa River,
hereby make the following by-laws:—

  1. The use of bullocks as traction animals on the said
    road is prohibited for the period from 1st May, 1895, to
    1st November, 1895.
  2. The haulage or transportation on the said road of any
    engine or machine coming under the definition of "heavy
    traffic," within the meaning of clause (a) of subsection (1) of
    section 130 of "The Public Works Act, 1894," during the
    months of May, June, July, August, and September in any
    year, shall cease.
  3. The width of tires of all vehicles upon the said road,
    whether plying for hire or not, shall bear the following pro-
    portion to the number of animals employed to draw the
    same, that is to say:—
If the Number of Animals used to draw a Vehicle having Two Wheels be Then the Minimum Width of Tire of any such Vehicle
If without Springs shall be

If the Number of Animals used to draw a Vehicle having Four Wheels be Then the Minimum Width of Tire of any such Vehicle

  1. If any person shall commit a breach of any of the fore-
    going by-laws, he shall be liable, upon conviction for such
    breach, to a penalty of £5: Provided that the Court before
    which proceedings may be taken in respect of such breach
    may, if it think fit, impose such lower penalty as it may
    think adequate to the particular case.

    thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.
