NOTICE is hereby given that in exercise of the powers
conferred upon me by "The Shops and Shop-
assistants Act, 1894," and of all other powers and authori-
ties me hereto enabling, and in terms of notice in writing duly
received by me from the Chairman of the Conference of dele-
gates of all the local authorities comprised in the district
constituted for the purposes of that Act by the Boroughs of the City of Auckland, Parnell, New-
market, and Newton (being all the boroughs or town districts
any part of any one of which is situate within a mile of any
part of another), I, William Pember Reeves, Minister of
Labour, hereby appoint Saturday to be the day on which
shall be closed, as provided by that Act, all shops in the
said district excepting butchers', hairdressers', and photo-
graphers' shops, which shall be closed on Wednesday in lieu
of Saturday.

situate within a mile of any part of another), I, William
Pember Reeves, Minister of Labour, hereby appoint Wednes-
day to be the day on which all shops in the said district
shall be closed as provided by that Act.

IT is hereby notified that the time within which notice of
intention to claim the bonus on starch must be given
has been extended to the 30th April, 1895. The notification
as to conditions, &c., is republished hereunder.

BONUS ON STARCH MANUFACTURED IN NEW ZEALAND.—
AMENDED NOTICE.
Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 15th November, 1893.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of two pounds (£2) a
ton will be paid on 100 tons of starch manufactured in the
Colony of New Zealand in each of the years 1893 and 1894.
CONDITIONS.
- Notice of intention to claim the bonus for 100 tons in
1893 must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not
later than the 31st December, 1893. Notice of intention to
claim the bonus for 100 tons in 1894 must be given in the
same manner not later than the 31st December, 1894. - The claims must be made respectively before the 31st
December, 1893 and 1894. - The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the
Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions is to be
the recipient of the bonus. - Evidence to be produced of such a nature as will enable
an officer appointed by the Government to certify that the
above-stated quantity in each year has been actually made,
sold, and delivered. - The bonus to be paid only on the certificate of such
officer.

Bonus for the Manufacture of Potassium Cyanide.
Department of Industries and Commerce,
Wellington, 17th January, 1895.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £1,000 will be
paid for the erection of a plant and the manufacture
in New Zealand of the first 200 tons of crude cyanide of
potassium from colonial produce.
- The plant must be capable of producing at least 70
tons of crude cyanide of potassium annually. - The crude cyanide of potassium so manufactured shall
contain at least 70 per cent. of potassium cyanide.
