Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 6th March, 1895.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the under-men-
tioned applications for Letters Patent have been ac-
cepted, and are open to public inspection at this office.
Any person may, at any time within two months from the
date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing, in duplicate,
of opposition to the grant of any such patent, stating in
such notice the particular grounds of his objection. A fee
of 10s. is payable with such notice:—

No. 6788.—17th April, 1894.—John Edward Taylor, of
Water Lea, near Mangere Bridge, Auckland, New Zealand,
Settler. An invention for making use of the rise and fall of
the tide for obtaining motive-power, to be called "J. E.
Taylor's Method of Utilising the Ebb and Flow of the Tide
for obtaining Motive-power." (Specification, 4s.; draw-
ings, 5s.)*

No. 6871.—25th May, 1894.—David Cairncross, Engine-
driver, of Tinwald, Canterbury, New Zealand, and Alex-
ander Harper Anderson, Machinery Importer, of Christ-
church, New Zealand. An invention for improved gorse-
cutting machine, attachable to traction-engines, for cutting
gorse and any live fences. (Specification, 10s.; drawings,
12s. 6d.)*

No. 6873.—28th May, 1894.—Thomas Stanley Philpott,
of Kilbirnie, Wellington, New Zealand, Saddler. An inven-
tion for an improved horse-collar. (Specification, 3s. 6d.;

No. 7346.—21st December, 1894.—P. and D. Duncan
(Limited), of Christchurch, New Zealand, Agricultural En-
gineers. An invention for an improved cultivator. (Speci-

of Palmerston North, New Zealand, Authorised Surveyor.
An invention for a surveyor's plummet-crane and chain-

Miner, and Harvey Peirce Jones, Bridge-builder, both of
Denver, United States of America. An invention for im-

No. 7438.—21st February, 1895.—Oliver Blackburn
Shallenberger, of Rochester, United States of America,
Electrician. An invention for improved methods and ap-
paratus for measuring electrical currents. (Specification,

No. 7439.—21st February, 1895.—Ryder and Co. (Limited),
of Phoenix Works, Kingsland Green, London, England,
Bottlers' Engineers and Screw-stopper Makers (Assignees of
Tom Sutcliffe, of 19, Kings Road, Brownswod Park, Lon-
don, England, Engineer). An invention for improvements
in filling- and stoppering-machines for bottling beers,
mineral waters, and the like. (Specification, 14s.; draw-
ings, 17s. 6d.)

No. 7442.—22nd February, 1895.—Cornelius Lot
Wheeler, of Sydenham, New Zealand, Mill Machinist.
An invention for new apparatus for packing in sacks cocks-

No. 7443.—19th February, 1895.—George Michael Bar-
nett, of Albany Street, Dunedin, New Zealand, Wood-
turner, and Andrew Devlin, of Duncan Street, South
Dunedin, New Zealand aforesaid, Lapidist. An invention
for wood-and-wire bottle-crate. (Specification, 2s.; draw-
ings, 3s.)

Invercargill, New Zealand, Engineer. An invention for im-
proved differential gear-lock for traction-engines and other
machines requiring a similar lock. (Specification, 4s. 6d.;

No. 7450.—21st February, 1895.—William Thomas Wid-
dowson and James Fogarty, both of Esk Street, Inver-
cargill, New Zealand, Coachbuilders. An invention for lever
and body-rest for balancing two-wheeled vehicles. (Speci-
fication, 4s. 6d.; drawings, 10s.)

No. 7453.—26th February, 1895.—Richard Bright, Black-
smith, and Hugh Morison, Sheep-farmer, both of Grey-
town North, New Zealand. An invention for improvements
in apparatus for starting races. (Specification, 5s. 6d.;

No. 7454.—23rd February, 1895.—John Anderson, of
Moray Place, Dunedin, New Zealand, Plumber. An inven-
tion for an absolutely silent and quick-filling tap or valve for
water-supply to cisterns to houses or closets. (Specification,

No. 7456.—26th February, 1895.—Frank Augustus Cook,
of Christchurch, New Zealand, Provision Merchant. An
invention for improvements in portable galvanised-iron

No. 7457.—28th February, 1895.—John Thomas Penny,
Mining Agent, and William Henry Richardson, Engineer,
both of Grenfell Street, Adelaide, South Australia. An in-
vention for improvements in apparatus for triturating and
amalgamating auriferous and argentiferous ores. (Speci-
