Notice of Request to amend Specification.
Patent Office,
Wellington, 20th February, 1895.
AREQUEST to be allowed to amend the specification
(including drawings) relating to the under-mentioned
application for Letters Patent has been received, and is open
to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any
time within one month from the date of this Gazette, give
me notice in writing of opposition to the amendment.
Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objec-
tion, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon:—
No. 7263.—12th November, 1894.—FREDERICK PRATT, of
Sumner, Canterbury, New Zealand, Solicitor. An invention
for improvements in aerating vessels or reservoirs used in
combination with counter or bar fountains, or other ap-
pliances by which the aerated water is drawn off.
The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows,
viz. :—
- By striking out the words, &c., as follows, i.e., “A rose-
nozzle or sprayer d (or other suitable device) is fitted to the
lower end of the supply-pipe D (inside aerating vessel or
reservoir), in order to finely divide the water so that it may
present a large surface to the gas and be quickly aerated,”
pages 3 and 4, lines 70–76, and inserting in place thereof the-
following words, &c., viz. : “Attached to the lower end of
the supply-pipe D, inside the aerating vessel or reservoir, is
the device E for dividing the water in order to quickly
aerate it. This device consists of a number of circular
trays of metal fastened together in a perpendicular series,
the bottoms of the trays being about three-quarters or an
inch apart, and are perforated with small holes. The water
falls on the top tray from the supply-pipe D, and in dripping
through the trays from top to bottom becomes aerated.
Other suitable devices might be adapted for the purpose.” - By striking out the words “it will not be necessary to
attach the spraying,” page 4, lines 86–88, and by inserting
before and after the word “device,” page 4, line 88, the-
word “the” and letter “E” respectively. - By substituting for the words “as the water in oozing
through,” in lines 89 and 90, page 4, the words “may be
fitted to the lower end of.” - By striking out the words “and, dropping therefrom,
will become sufficiently aerated,” in lines 90–92, page 4. - By altering Figure I. of the drawings in accordance
with the foregoing.
The reasons given by the applicant for the amendments
are as follows :—
“I find that the sprayer d fastened below the rose-nozzle
d, although fulfilling its object, does not cause the water to
be as well aerated as the device now specified, and also that
it is better to fasten the device now specified below the
filter, in order to give additional facility to the aeration of
the water. This amendment does not involve any alteration
and addition to the claim.”
