Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and Charges
in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

THE New Zealand Railway Commissioners, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers conferred by “The
Government Railways Act, 1887,” do hereby make the fol-
lowing alterations in and additions to the scale of fares,
rates, and charges on the New Zealand Government Rail-
ways, to come into force on and after the 10th day of Sep-
tember, 1894:—

PART IV.—GOODS: LOCAL RATES.
WELLINGTON SECTION.
Class K.—Timber.
Timber consigned from saw-mills to Lower Hutt, Welling-
ton, and intermediate stations will be charged 3d. per 100
superficial feet less than the classified rates; minimum
charge, 8d. per 100 superficial feet.
Rimu from Eketahuna, Opaki, and intermediate stations
to Wellington will be charged 2s. 6d. per 100 superficial feet.

PART V.—CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS.
Sheeting, in bales, consigned to, or to be used by,
frozen-meat companies, for manufacture of
coverings for frozen meat . . . . . Class D.
Unflanged wrought-iron pipes for mining purposes—mini-
mum quantity, 2 tons per single truck, 5 tons per double-
bogie truck: Class D. Any less quantity will be charged
as such minimum, or at the classified rates for Class B.
Owners’ risk. Special goods.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon.
the Commissioner of Trade and Customs has decided to
interpret “The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888,” in
relation to the under-mentioned articles as follows:—

NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other
kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be
used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the colony” as a. & m.s.
Articles marked thus * are revised decisions.

Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed.

NOTICE is hereby given that HERBERT SUMNER MARTIN,
Esq., of Imperial Chambers, Bank Place, Melbourne,
a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria, has been this
day appointed by his Honour the Chief Justice a Commis-
sioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in Victoria,
under the 2nd section of “The Commissioners of the
Supreme Court Act, 1875,” for the purpose of administering
and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in
the said section mentioned.

Intestate Estates.

NOTICE.—It is hereby notified that, in pursuance of the
provisions of section 8 of “The Public Trust Office
Acts Amendment Act, 1893,” the Public Trustee, having
elected to administer the property of the following persons,
who, so far as is known, have died intestate within the
Colony of New Zealand, did file his election in writing at
the Supreme Court Office, at the place stated after the name
of each such deceased person:—
