hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of
such land contained in the Crown grant bearing date the
thirteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-three, described in the first column of the
said Schedule, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has
been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said
Court has reported that the provisions of the law in that
behalf have been complied with: And whereas it appears
expedient to grant such application:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers con-
ferred on him by "The Native Land Act, 1888," and acting
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all
restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant on the aliena-
tion of the said land are hereby removed.

FIRST COLUMN.

Particulars of Grant or Instrument containing Restrictions.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
fourth day of July, 1894.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor
in Council by Henare Pitt Porutu and others, being a
majority in number of the Native owners of the land
described in the second column of the Schedule hereto,
praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such land
contained in the Crown grant bearing date the twenty-first
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty,
described in the first column of the said Schedule, may be
removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the
Native Land Court, and the said Court has reported that
the provisions of the law in that behalf have been complied
with: And whereas it appears expedient to grant such appli-
cation:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred on him by "The Native Land Act, 1888," and
acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all
restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant on the aliena-

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth
day of July, 1894.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by "The Public Domains Act, 1881," His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council,
dated the sixteenth day of October, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-eight, making delegation of certain powers
in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like
advice and consent, by this present Order, delegate, but only
with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the
Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act afore-
said, except the powers under or conferred by sections five
and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who
shall be known as the Rangiora Public Domain Board,
namely,

JOHN LILLY,
ALBERT PARSONS,
MALCOLM DUNCAN,
EDWARD MULCOCK,
AQUILA IVORY, and
HENRY BLACKETT

(hereinafter referred to as "the Board"), subject to the
stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business
    on the first Monday in each month, at four o'clock p.m.,
    at the Road Board Office, Rangiora, or at such other time
    or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.
    The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the sixth day of
    August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
    by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
    notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
    the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
    at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the first
    Monday in February in every succeeding year thereafter,
    elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
    discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
    vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
    his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
    time appointed for holding the same, the members present
    shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of
    such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
    the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the mem-
    bers may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a
    Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of
    votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Rangiora Survey District,
Land District of Canterbury, being Reserve No. 132 (in red),
containing 10 acres, more or less. Bounded northward by
Section No. 2673; eastward by Section No. 1623; south-
ward by Section No. 1197; and westward by a road-line.
Also all those two parcels of land in the same survey district,
being Reserve No. 1563 (in red), containing together 85 acres,
more or less--viz., No. 1, bounded southward by Section
No. 4758, westward by Sections Nos. 1623 and 1197, and
northward and eastward by road-lines; No. 2, bounded
southward by Reserve No. 142 (in red), north-eastward by
Sections Nos. 3025 and 12315, and northward, westward,
and south-eastward by road-lines.
