  • The remaining suburbs do not lie within borough boundaries, and particulars respecting them have not been obtained for the Vital Statistics.

Deaths occurring at hospitals, of persons not residents of the borough wherein the hospital is situated, have been allotted in each case to the borough where the disease was contracted, and not to that in which the death actually took place.

The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 363, against 391 in May, a decrease of 28. The deaths in June were 177, an increase of 27 on the number in May. Of the total deaths, males contributed 88; females, 89. Forty-eight of the deaths were of children under 5 years of age, being 27·12 per cent. of the whole number: of these 33 were under 1 year of age. There were 30 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards: six men of 65, 72, 74, 75, 76, and 85, and five women of 68, 70 (two), 77, and 83, died at Auckland; three men of 66, 69, and 72, and one woman of 70, at Wellington; four men of 69, 70, and 75 (two), and three women of 65, 67, and 75, at Christchurch; four men of 65, 66, 67, and 80, and four women of 67, 69, 70, and 74, at Dunedin.
