REGISTAR-GENERAL'S Report on the Vital Statisties of the Principal Towns of New Zealnd during the Monht of February, 1894.

Death, occuring at hospital, of persons not residents of the Borough where the hospital is situate have been allotted in each case to the Borough where the disease was contracted, and not to that in which the death actually took place.

The total births in the above Boroughs amount to 389, against 463 in January, a decreas of 74. The death in February were 211, an increase of 2 on the number in January. Of the total death, male contributd 117; female, 94. Ninty-two of the death were of children under 5 years of age, being 43.6 per cent. of the whole number; 78 of these were under 1 year of age.

The following Table shows the causes of the Deaths of Persons of both Sexes under 5 years of Age and 5 years and upward, and the Proportions per Cent. of Deaths from each cause, in the Boroughs of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and DUnedIn, that were registered during the month of February, 1894.
