The cost of producing the same;
The cost of the machine, and the simplicity and dura-
bility of the working parts.
On completion of the tests the committee shall furnish a
report to the Minister on all the machines or processes which
they have examined or tested, and shall state,–
(1.) The machine or process which they consider on the
whole the most efficient and economic.
(2.) Whether they consider that any machine or process
tested so materially reduces the cost of produc-
tion, or improves the product, as to be worthy of
the whole bonus or of a part only.
(3.) Whether, in the event of no one machine or process
being entitled to the whole bonus, they deem any
machine or process worthy of a part of the bonus,
and, if so, how much.
Bonus No. 2.
A bonus of £250 is offered for a process of utilising the
waste products of the hemp.
The first three conditions of Bonus No. 1 to apply to this
also.
The committee shall supply a sufficient and equal quantity
of the waste products to each process as a test.
On completion of the tests the committee shall report to
the Minister, and shall give the following particulars of each
process: (a.) The nature of the article made. (b.) The
quantity produced, and the cost of production. (c.) The
value of the product. (d.) Whether any of the processes are
of sufficient importance to warrant the Minister in giving
(1) the whole, or (2) any part, of the bonus; (3) if a part
only, how much.

Reform Act, 1886,” notice is hereby given that for the
Senior Examination of January, 1895, the period of literature
will be the latter end of the eighteenth century, and the
special books will be Shakespeare’s “Julius Cæsar” and
Thackeray’s “Esmond.”

Notice respecting Native and Imported Game.

T HE following notice, which was published in the New
Zealand Gazette of 13th March, 1890, is republished
for general information.

T HE attention of sportsmen, game-dealers, and others is
called to the provisions of “The Animals Protection Act
Amendment Act, 1889,” which is now in force. A digest of
the chief of such provisions is subjoined, viz. :–
Section 4. No person shall kill, destroy, or shoot at any
game or native game with anything but a shoulder-gun, and
no such gun must exceed size No. 10 at muzzle, or be fitted
with barrels exceeding 36in. in length. No gun shall exceed
10lb. in weight.
Any person offending against this provision is liable to a
penalty not exceeding £10.
Section 5. No person shall sell any native game, or take
or kill any native game for the purpose of sale, without pre-
viously taking out the required license.
Penalty not exceeding £20.
Section 6. No sale of native game shall take place prior to
the 1st May and subsequently to the 1st August in any
year.
If any person hold a license to sell game—i.e., imported
game—he is not liable to pay a second fee on taking out a
license to sell native game. But both licenses must be taken
out if it is intended to sell both kinds of game.
Section 7. Every holder of a license to sell game or native
game shall keep a book in which he is to enter the name of
every person from whom any game or native game is pur-
chased, the number and description of all such game or
native game purchased from each person, and the district
in which such game was killed or taken. The book is to be
open for inspection at all reasonable hours by any police
officer or holder of a game license.
Penalty not exceeding £10.
Sections 10 and 11. Every Acclimatisation Society is to
forward to the Colonial Treasurer before the 21st April in
each year a detailed statement of accounts as up to the 31st
March preceding, together with a balance-sheet duly audited ;
and the statement is also to be published in a newspaper
circulating in the district. If default be made by any
society for three calendar months, such society is not to
receive any fees, fines, or penalties under the Animals Pro-
tection Act while such default continues.

P URSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, passed in the forty-fourth
year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and inti-
tuled “The Marriage Act, 1880,” the following name of an
Officiating Minister within the meaning of the said Act is
published for general information:–
Church of the Province of New Zealand, commonly called
the Church of England.

Notice by Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands
Act, 1892.”
In the matter of a parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 1 rood, more or less, and being Section No. 64,
Rhodes Town, at the corner of Woolcombe and Barnard
Streets, in the Borough of Timaru, of which one Dennis
Devine, who was accidentally killed some twenty years
ago, was the owner. In deeds he is described as of
Timaru, shepherd, and of the Ashley District, farmer.
He emigrated from County Cork, and his family are
unknown.
W HEREAS the Public Trustee has been made aware of
the above-described land having no known owner,
and he, having made reasonable inquiry, can discover neither
the owner nor any agent for the said land, nor any objection
to the said land being declared subject to the above-named
Act:
Now, this is to give notice to all whom it may concern
that, unless on or before the 31st day of December, 1894, the
owner of the above-described land establishes his title thereto
to the satisfaction of the Supreme Court or any Judge of
such Court, the Public Trustee will take the steps pre-
scribed by “The Land Transfer Act, 1885,” to be registered
as the owner of such land.
