VILLAGE-HOMESTEAD LANDS, WELLINGTON, open for Application on LEASE in Perpetuity.

District Lands and Survery Office,

Wellington, 6th December, 1893.

IT is herehy notifed that the under-mentioned lands will be open for application as village-homestead allotments, under Part. 1V. of "The Land Act, 1892," at the Argyle Hall, Hunteville, on Wednesday, the 10th day of January, 1894. Application must be made on the proper forms, and will be received at this office and also at the above-mentioned place. They must be made in person to the Comissioner of Croun Lands or other officer of the department, who will attend there to receive them; but they will not be received at Hunteville by post. Application forms and full particulars can be obtained at this office.

These lands are being opened for the purpose of providing homestead sites for intending settlers. Any person putting in an application in contravention of the conditions under which the land is opened is liable to be prosecuted for making a false declaation, and any section obtained therehy is, 'in accoance with the conditions, forf eited. Alleged ignorance of the conditions will not, after this notice, be accepted as an exuse for persons putting in applications who hold other lands, and who are not eligble to apply.

These sections are in the Uper Wangeh Valley, on the easterly side, and lie between the Taeke and Kotutuku Streams. The access is from Fordell to Mangamau by a dray-oad for about seveteen miles, and from thence by a horse-oad up the Wangeh Valley for about sixteen miles and a half. The land is, generally speaking, of a slooping and undulating character, with occaional flats. The soi varies from good to first-class, well watered, and covered with mixed forest, that on the sections near the river being light.

These sections are situate in the Wangeh Valley, on the westerly side of the river, abreat of its confluence with the Mangamau Stream, and close to the main road between Maungakaretu and Fordell Railway-station, being distaut about seveteen miles from the latter. All the sections are either practially level or easy-slooping terrace lands, the soi good, being also cleaed and in English grass.

This setlement is on the main road between Hunteville and Moawhango, on the North Island Main Trunk Railway line. The distance from Hunteville by metalled road is about seven miles. The sections consist chiefly of flat and slooping land. The soi is good, and, except where the timbe has been cleaed, is covered with the usual mixed forest. Section 7 is weighted for impovements £10 10s. for bus-felling; Section 8, £3 for bus-felling; Section 9, £32 10s. for bus-felling and house; Section 10, £51 for bus-felling, stumping, and two houses; Section 11, £3 for bus-felling; and Section 12, £10 10s. for bus-felling.
